I received the Hogue G10 grips yesterday - absolutely perfect fit with no bump-out on the upper left.

Which model of their G10 grips did you get? I picked up a set of their "Contour Classic" grips for my P229 a couple of months ago, and they ended up being just fatter enough compared to the factory grips that they didn't work for me.

Build quality and fit and finish was superb, though. They were so nice I really WANT to own a set, lol. I'd like to try a couple of different styles for my P226 in person and see if I can find a fit that works for me on that gun.

Easy to take photos - but diffy for me to post at my advanced age and diminished mental state Frown. I threw away the packaging and can't find the emails for actual model - but (hopefully) here's a couple of photos:

This is a frame from a police trade in .40 - with a new-ish Legion slide on top + new barrel. I've sold the .40 upper to fund a 229 Legion slide for hopefully an upcoming build. I use the term 'build' loosely as I've never done this before but I'm looking forward to the challenge of trying to figure it out (well, the only tricky part for me will be installing the frame parts so that they'll work).

It's finally done!

Got my slides back today from Parker Mountain Machine. It took about 6 weeks, which was less than I expected, and the workmanship is superb! I'm thrilled with how it turned out. The DLC finish is excellent and the 407K is a press-fit into the cut.

Milling a standard P226 slide requires exposing the firing pin stop channel, and the spring now rides against the bottom of the optic. They included a new spring with the gun, presumably shortened a bit but I didn't actually compare them. They also included screws for my particular optic.

The 407K fits the slide width perfectly, with no overhang. The standard-height sights are just barely visible enough to be aligned though the window...enough that I could shoot with them in a pinch or use them to confirm the dot zero.

It shoots like a dream. This may be my new favorite gun. Recoil is very soft, and even with the compact window the dot is easy to track. I wasn't sure about the bigger 6moa dot, but it's growing on me. I only had about an hour on the range with it tonight, but after I got it zeroed at 15 yards, I had a blast clearing the plate rack. I also scored my best yet on the postal match stage.

The trigger has a smooth rolling break, and it's extremely accurate. The controls actuate smoothly and positively, and the slide goes into battery with authority but zero bounce. It ate about 100 rounds with zero hiccups. It's everything I hoped it would be and more!

Finally finished mine. The last part was to wait for the slide to come back from CCR

I'll call this my 40th anniversary P226 Smile

Revenant Arms no rail frame with a combination of GGI and factory parts, greased and ready to shoot tomorrow. Links to a larger version of the photo.

Very nice! Is that the ELS trigger kit? If so how does it compare to a factory trigger pull? Who did your optic cut?

Yes, that's the ELS kit. I added the GGI strut system with the lightest mainspring. The trigger pull is great. I've put the GGI mainspring by itself in to a 226 with all factory parts and the trigger pull weight itself is similar if not the same, but the smoothness and "feel" the GGI parts together provides puts it at the top of the chart.

That's a Legion slide. I didn't like the color so I had it refinished in black.

I have a couple old 228 parts kits that are complete except for the frame. Does anyone know if these receivers will work with the older folded slides?
Thanks,
ETG

The 228 parts kit with folded slide will work perfect with the Matrix P228/P229 frames.

Matrix also offers a P2296 frame that will work with the 228 parts kit. For this P2296 frame you will need p226 grips and mags and hammer block.

I have personally tried the folded p228 slides and P229 legacy slides on the P2296 frame with everything fitting perfect.

I do not see any reason your p228 parts kit would not work on the Matrix P229 or P228 frames.

ETG, I sent you an email...

For P228 details see this link:

Thanks

Matrix Precision states someplace on their website that the older, folded slides won't always fit their frames because the dimensions are slightly different. But you can contact them and arrange to send your slide to them. They will make sure that the slide fits the frame they send you.

Broadside,

What you stated, I also found on the Matrix website.

This is the reply I got from David:

The carbon slides are fitting fine now, I don't think you will have any issue with it.
