I have a 9mm P229 slide with a short extractor (no barrel).

If I buy a P229-1 9mm barrel will this work on a P229-40 frame without needing to change the locking block?

From what I understand a P229-1 barrel will not even fit in a 9mm P229 Legacy (short extractor) slide so you don't have to worry about the locking insert.

I believe the OP has a 9mm Legacy slide he is trying to use for caliber conversion and not trying to convert a .40 P229 using the .40 slide where the Bart-Sto barrel would be a very good solution.
