Cool find.

I have an old west German ppk/s in 22lr. Was gifted to me by a now dearly departed friend.

Would love to source one in 32 or 380

They are fairly pleasant to shoot in .32acp which is the cartridge they were designed for.

The .380acp version is uncomfortable for most people though most people can get through a few magazines before having enough.

Also, the gun was designed when one-handed shooting was the norm.

The modern, two-handed, hands as high as possible way of shooting is a recipe for slide-bite with these things.

It's an old design and one that hasn't evolved much over the years so there are definitely quirks to deal with.

They are beautifull guns though with a fit and finish approaching jewelry on the finest examples.

Congratulations to the OP on a great find and purchase. I hope the gun brings you many years of enjoyment.

Not sure what that means ballistically speaking

It means .32 ACP might have enough oomph to break glass, so long as you're within brick-throwing distance and you get lucky. Big Grin

(Or was that .25 ACP...?)

I recently rescued this 1941 PPK from an LGS. Judging by the inscription on the inside of the holster flap, it is most likely a WW2 trophy. Sadly, the original Trolit grip displays the typical cracks and warpage often observed with this material. Otherwise, the pistol is in top operational condition with ~90% of the original finish remaining.

Very Nice PPK/S, Q would approve. Luckily my medium sized hands never got "hammer Bite" shooting one.

Mine wasn't a German gun but an Interarms build.
It jammed, hard to rack, slide-bite and caused me to trade it away and forsake 380 cal forever.

HOWEVER, if I had one like yours and it shot fine - I would be in love again.
So congrats and best of shooting to you. Cool

a good customer was all happy to pick up a decent ppk\s in 380, but lamented about how it shot,
I told him to find on in 32, or get an older PP or PPK

so he did, found a nice pre 68 PPK in 32,

and saw the light,

the 32's shoot so much better

The Walther royal bluing is just luscious.

With 7 rounds, the weight is dang near the same as my 365X with 12. They are almost identical dimensionally.

I am going to try to locate some PowRball ammo for blowback cycle pistols. It made my last one function flawlessly for defense. A little snappy, but it cycled reliably. PowRball seemed like a gimick, but it sure worked well in the PPK when conical or RN hollow points just jammed as they were just not quite the same dimensions as FMJ RN.

I had that almost exact same thing in the late 90's. Sold it when I moved overseas. I am envious - maybe move to your area and follow you around for all these great deals.

I gave $800 for the gun. I would have loved for it to be around $500, but W. German are stupid crazy and new is pushing $900.

The last one I bought back in 1987 was $400, which was dang well near a week's wages for me at the time. This time $800 is two days wages. It's all relative.

Well, I shot it today.

Put 100 rounds through it. 95gr Fiocchi 950fps FMJ.

100% reliable, no slide bite, recoil was not unpleasant at all.

I don't get the hate.

I have an Interarms .380 PPK/S that I bought new about 1970. Never carried, pretty close to like-new condition and original boxes. Beautiful to behold, but it’s a safe queen – my SIG P238 is so much better for me. Considering the price you mentioned I ought to sell it. Except that I’ve never sold a gun.

Serious about crackers.

Many nice Walthers shown and stories told.

I've had several, PPK/s, PPK, but never a PP model.

My problem was I had just started reloading when I had most of the, Always loading too hot, naturally hurting my hand. Most were reliable, I was always tinkering with them, refinishing, etc.

Looking at the prices these days, even for the American made ones gives me a headache.
