HK AgNew Springfield TRP
I always thought the TRP 45 stainless as shown in PR64's post on page 1 was the bomb.
No rail, stainless, mag well....

Rick LeeI've always had a hankering for a TRP, but have always found a better bang for the buck when I was shopping. Most recent one is a stainless DW Valor, used, but in mint condition, I got for $1300 at a local gun show. I can't imagine a nicer gun for any amount of money, so I'm really done buying 1911s. That and my others are all I want.

Solid deal for sure.

bendableIs it true that it requires a special tool to field strip it for cleaning ?

jer830It might have a two piece full length guide rod that necessitates the use of an allen wrench to unscrew before field stripping. I had an older Armory Kote TRP years ago that came with a one piece FLGR. First thing I did when getting it home was ditch it for a Wilson standard unit with cap.

DanHDawson Precision also sells a toolless one piece guide rod for this model that is the same type that Altas Gunworks and Staccato use for their guns as well. No paper clip required.

copaupI had both a DW Valor and a TRP. I still have the TRP.
The Valor was prettier, and an excellent shooter, but the TRP has been an absolute tank that easily shoots well beyond my ability, feeds everything I put in it, and has that cheese grater of a front strap grows on you (or chews into your flesh, either way you aren't dropping it).
Only thing I changed on my TRP was to go to a GI setup. I did the same thing on my Wilson. I hate 2 piece guide rods.

Something else available now on the TRP Operator with the bull barrel I wish I had 20 years ago is that Hilton Yam has a Reverse Spring Plug you can use on the Bull Barrel to run a GI Guide Rod.

Take a look at the Springfield Prodigy in 4.25”. I’m at 1,500+ rounds through mine, and it’s really good. Steel matches or cold weather carry, it just works. An EGW extended slide release really enhances it.

Interesting....do you know if that will work with an EMP4? Love the gun, hate the guide rod.

captain1272 grand for a trp? Over the years I have bought two lightly used les baers for less than that.
I buy almost all my guns used, and as a general rule, high end 1911’s are bought by people who take care of them and don’t abuse them. Finding a used semi custom like baer or Wilson in that price range is easy.

No, they just have one for the 4.25" and 5" model. There are other companies like EGW that make 1 piece guide rods for the EMP.
