Am shopping for a 220. What's the consensus on US made frames? Looking at some 37A, 37B framed guns. No problem at all. Or get an older gun? Are they valued the same? Premium paid for German framed guns? Am old, and have never owned a US made SIG. But it would not bother me. This may have been beat to death, just didn't see much on it. Thanks

Wait, what? |
Nothing wrong with US made Sigs, but like every other gun, a detailed hands on inspection is in order. My duty P220R has been flawless and just as accurate as the 1994 vintage triple serial German gun it replaced a year ago. Not quite as silky smooth as a 23 year old gun becomes, but it shoots just fine. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

For collecting...all German Sport Stock. Stainless match barrel, tuned by the SIG (DE) smiths, target sights, uses the same frame/slide as the 220ST. Actually not .... the Sport Stock has the beaver tail...aside from that its the same frame as the 220ST. For shooting, you can't go wrong with a standard 220ST (internal extractor), the latter 220 SSS had the external extractor.

I have a US made 37B stainless frame. It has the short beavertail and rail. No problems with it whatsoever. Mike You can run, but you cannot hide. If you won't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

As I look into it (Aside from the German sport model) All 220ST's seem to be more or less US guns. Rather than German made. More US parts than German in all of them, all assembled in the USA. With the later guns having US machined frames. And external extractor. Just a minor discovery as I was reading up on them. Just something to yack about.

Found this one local late last night. Sig trigger job / single action pull breaks at 4lbs and 4oz. 500 rounds through it. $800.00 with SIG alum grips included in the deal. Not bad for Calif. These seem out of favor right now, but am not sure we will be seeing any/many SS frames going forward. So I wanted to pick one up. The external extractor was a plus for me. But I could be the minority. Anyway, thanks for the help...

^^^^ That's a very good deal, even for non-Cali. For you guys, even a better deal. Q

You done good Sig 210-6, I love it, good ol 220 SSS. Yes the short external extractor is an upgrade on this gun to me as well.

Very nice. That should serve you well for a long time. If that's the old-fashioned rail, there are some lights that will still fit on it just fine.

Made the purchase. Looked pretty good. Some light handling marks though. Cant be seen in photos. Probably due to bead blast SS finish. One thing that threw me, there was faint wear marks under the slide from the barrel, but nothing on the barrel? It looked new / glossy. Was thinking maybe the barrel had been replaced? Purchased anyway. Got home and Googled it. Turns out its probably coated with DLC. Or something similar. Any idea when they started coating barrels? No more side wear marks or smileys? Hmm... Oh, and the xtra grips were not alum. But poly grips from an alum 220... Called SIG to verify the work. SRT and a 4.4 lb action package. About $280.oo total. Trigger was really nice.........
