Ultimate Stainless Steel Colt Python Login/Join

A number of years ago, Colt had produced an Ultimate Stainless Steel Colt Python for the retail market. I saw one in person when they were being made and it seemed like it was quite bright.

I am in the process of obtaining a new Colt Python in Stainless Steel and would like to have it polished to the bright (shiny) finish.

Does anyone know of a shop that could handle such a polishing job? Colt custom shop has said no at this time.

Thank you in advance.

You might also reach out to keystone arms on gunbroker. The guy specializes in rare/desirable/high dollar colts and other guns, but has sold "bright stainless" Pythons that were polished up from standard. I'm not sure if he knows who did it for him or whether he bought them second hand but it's worth asking. The one I have looks amazing.

Over the years I've had Fords do work for me and I couldn't recommend them more. They ARE busy, but that's for a reason - worth the wait.

IMO check with Colt Custom shop 1st (I am of the mindset let the original factory handle it).

If in the future you get a Colt letter on the Python that polishing work (I think) would be reflected.

Collectors like all original - and at second best all original with factory work done.

Since that revolver was manufactured the "original factory" changed hands several times.

Most recently Colt was purchased by CZ earlier this year

There are many that would not consider it the same Company

I would also be surprised if any Collector would consider that revolver as an original Ultimate Stainless. It is simply a revolver that was polished many years after it was manufactured, that is a refinish

This is being done for personal enjoyment, not to maximize the return on investmetn

This is my original 2 1/2" Ultimate Stainless Python manufactured in 1983

This is an original 8" Bright Stainless Python manufactured in 1995

I do not appear to have my original 6" Bright Stainless photographed

All,

Thank you for your suggestions.

This will be a shooter / BBQ gun and not something anticipated to increase in value.
The mirror polish is for my enjoyment.

When I'm gone the family can worry about it knowing it was used and enjoyed.

Colt_saa - The 2.5" gun is exactly what I am going for!

Happy New Year to all.
