You can only select one poll choice per question. So your poll doesn't allow for multiple calibers, multiple types of drills, etc.

This would be better served as just a standard discussion thread, not a poll. Most folks don't just shoot one caliber in exactly one type of drill, every range trip.

Yes. The poll responses don’t permit a description that’s anything close to what my sessions are.
I’m fortunate to be able to click on almost every one of the responses to the three questions.

I can tell at sight a Chassepot rifle from a javelin.

Since the poll doesn't allow multiple choices. Here are my answers for my wife and I. This is for the outdoor range that we use during the Spring to Fall seasons. Indoor Range is a bit more limiting, but we only use it for 3 months.

1. Primary pistols = 9mm, our EDC pistols.
2. Nowadays, 50-100 a range session. (Then some plinking with my wife's .22 pistol or some work with our shotgun.)
3. Yes to these: Draw from Holster, Rapid fire (faster than .25 seconds), Shoot steel (only on some bays), Movement drills, Distance over 25 yd (only on some bays), Use shot timers.

What [caliber] pistols do you typically shoot?

9mm, .380 and .22, in descending order.

Varies, but 50-100 per gun.

Of the choices listed, just the rapid fire. I doubt if I'm getting quarter-second split times. Half-second, maybe. Big Grin Range policy on draw & fire from the holster is silent. Movement and steel targets, no. I don't own a shot timer.

Not counting rifles, carbine and shotgun since the question was not about those.

The answers don't entirely fit my range day and the restrictions at our range.

I shoot more handguns than rifles; usually take three to five guns with me; shoot 200+ rounds total, and usually shoot standing using paper targets or clays. I shoot at the 10 ft to 25 ft positions. I usually shoot multiple calibers each trip; some compination of these 9mm, 10mm, 45ACP, .357sig and sometimes .22

That describes the day I have today.

Thanks for the feedback, I thought the poll would allow multiple responses to each question, my mistake, appreciate you responding as a thread!

I actually was able to answer, and I did. My favorite pistol range days anyway are the ones where I just take one piece (usually 9mm, but not always), and just get a lot of practice. I was also able to answer the range permissions part, because the only thing my usual range allows is rapid fire (depending on which employee is the RSO), and it’s the only one that does. The other ranges in town allow none of the options listed in the poll, which I find ridiculous.

Question 1:

9mm if I'm working on practical defensive stuff.
.22 if wanting to save some money and focus on bullseye fundamentals
.44, .45, or .357 if I'm working with revolvers or prepping for a hike or camping trip.

Question 2:

Usually 100-200. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Question 3:

Almost always all of the above.

lol. So true. I try to shoot 400-500 rounds at the range. I always take my P322 and put 300 through it. The other rounds go through whatever else I bring. Typically it is 3 pistols. They are all fun to shoot but the .22 is just affordable.
