TexasRaiderWest German Electroless Nickel Question
Sorry if I missed this on any previously discussed threat, perhaps I searched poorly. But I'm curious about the frame finish on the older P-Series pistols (220, 225, 226, 228) that were done in electroless nickel by Klein's, I think. I'm pretty sure one can't do electroless nickel on an aluminum frame, so I'm curious...is it just a form of anodizing? I'm clearly not a metallurgic expert, so don't flame me if I'm wrong, LOL!

SiGagainNo worries. A lot of misinformation out there…
The slide AND the frame were electroless nickeled by Klein Plating…

TexasRaiderThanks! I think I heard Klein is no longer doing that work, sadly. I've seen a few of those pistols come up for sale over the last few years, but unfortunately many are very worn and the finish is pretty thin or kind of shabby looking. I wonder is there is anyone left out there that can do that same finish so it comes out that same way, a bit satin.
Thanks for the info, by the way.

Klein stopped the firearms business at the end of the 20th century and turned in their FFL. Check out Ford's Guns in FL for their Nickel plating.
https://allaboutthesunshinesta...tom-gun-refinishing/And, I'll add to that thread above with the following info.
Up until 1987, the factory Nickel SIGs were plated not by Klein but in W. Germany. And, the W. Germans plated everything on their guns.
Everything, down to the breech clock roll pins. Klein plated Nickel SIGs have only the slide, guide rod, frame, controls and mags in Nickel. The breech block, barrel, locking insert and other internals are not.

TexasRaiderThanks 12131! You've been an encyclopedia of knowledge on these older Sigs, I very much appreciate it!
