longjohnFN is back in the game with an All-New High Power?
Xtreme power might have been more appropriate name ! Built for Xtreme shooting could have been the sales pitch. Para, hear all of that. In fact, over the years I had a couple high powers, loved shooting them, but I always felt like I was one mag away from breaking something ( probably never would have shot them enough to actually do it ) just because they were thin, refined, kind of elegant looking. I heard about some of their durability issues, (although not with the technical specificity you describe) and it might have been why I never hung on to them. This new version looks like its the opposite. Beefed up steel versions with some tweaks but the same trigger operation and kind of the same old high power look at least in terms of the general profile may be the right compromise. Of course this is all based on pictures so who knows. When I pick one up in my hand that new grip set up may not feel right but I am definitely going to give it a try.

SOTARJust wondering and my poor google skills today didn't find an answer.
Was the Hi-Power in contention to replace the 1911 when Beretta won the contract?
Other thoughts, just saw the new FN HI-Power.
Pro's
- Made in the USA
- No Mag Disconnect
- Notch on the slide to lock it back isn't visible as the original was.
Cons:
Like it has been said it looks like a Sig or a ruger not a hi-power

Il CattivoThey also don't seem to be around anywhere - not even reviews dated post-SHOT Show.

Have no idea what you're looking at. It doesn't even remotely resemble either.

Yes, but not a traditional single action High Power, since one of the requirement was that the pistol had to be double action.
The eight XM9 contenders were:
HK P7
Beretta 92F
Colt SSP
Steyr GB
S&W 459
Walther P88
Sig P226
FN Double Action Hi-Power

Il Cattivo^^ Why do I get the feeling that the FN washed out - officially or unofficially - the moment someone tried to pull the DA trigger while wearing gloves? IIRC, there've been at least a couple of far-forward DA triggers like that, and they've consistently left me wondering whether the engineers didn't just get lazy at some point.

Q
See 2 comments on page 4 of this thread. Perhaps I misunderstood the comments there of David Lee and Wolfe 21. My apologies if I did.
