monoblokMemory's fading...seeking name of a particular older P229 variant
It's an older model; I probably last saw one NIB 11 or 12 years ago(?). Definitely was a pre-dash narrow magwell frame, done in black anodized with the half-height serration slide. Don't remember what sights it came with. It came with possibly three or four 18rd extended mags with the gun that had a chunky, boxy polymer base. I sort of remember that it had a 2 or 3 letter acronym for the model name that may have had an 'S' somewhere in there.
All of the talk about silly SIG model variants somehow got me to remembering bits and pieces about this gun, except its name. And now not remember the name is bugging me. Anyone have an idea what the name of this one was called?

monoblokDanke, Q. I had a feeling you would be among the first to respond.
EDIT: Yep, just a regular P229-9-BSS with extended mags. Yesterday's version of the current TACOPS package, except no throwaway holster.

Yes, notice the TruGlo TFO front. Have never liked that long-tail sight. But, I actually like this version of the mag's polymer sleeve more than their current one. Mags are Mec-Gar, btw.

I agree about the current mags; it's a repurpose of the same base that Mec-Gar uses on the extended Beretta 92 mags. When I bought some of the current mags from Greg Cote a few years ago, I noticed that similarity with existing Beretta mags that I already owned. Yeah, I'm not going to get these mixed up, right? The older base with that beveled ledge was spot-on perfect to me.
I'd forgotten about the TFO (and didn't notice it in the pic). Well...shoot enough rounds and there's always a chance that one will be practicing
instinctual aiming once the fiber optic flies off.
