Any reason Not to get my P245 refinished? Login/Join

So I picked up a P245 recently and the finish isn’t horrible, but I would like to send it to CCR for refinishing. Any reason I shouldn’t? It’s not a “collectors piece”, but it’s not something in every gun case either. I guess I’m wondering if it would devalue the Sig??

Thanks all

Just my two cents' worth, but when it comes time for you to sell it, you won't have any trouble doing so, regardless of whether it has been refinished.

Some people will care, sure, but plenty of people won't care.

It's your gun, and CCR has a solid reputation for doing good work. If refinishing it will make you happy, go ahead and do it. You bought it for you, not the next guy, so who cares what he thinks?

I am of the mind unless it is something more or less historically relevant, have at it. It is your gun do what makes you happy and the vast number of P245’s or SIG’s in general fall into this category.

That said if there is any historical or antique significance I feel like we should be more like caretakers for the next generation and leave it be only caring for or repairing where necessary. I would not refinish great grand pappy’s artillery Luger he brought back from the Great War for example.

………and of course all my thoughts and opinions are the correct one’s so that it is written so shall it be done. Razz.

What kind are you thinking of having done just a straight refinish or something different? Just curious and CCR does great work.

Take care, shoot safe and heed my decree’s. Big Grin

Hey Chris, sorry… I’m at the grocery store with the fam. Didn’t read your response completely. I’m thinking I’ll take advantage of CCR’s 20% off sale and do something like House black.

I regret refinishing a couple of items. But, I think making a P245 your own would be super. I hope to refinish a P229 Legion one day at CCR.

So did you end up sending it out? Would love to see pics if you did. The P245 is one of my favorites.

Not trying to knock CCR at all as their finishes are really good, and only want to help enlighten everybody, but as you guys have mentioned their CP2 finish, inquire about the maintenance for that finish. If you sweat a lot, like I do, you then have to continually manage that finish with a Flitz product or otherwise it will darken and spot. After learning that I wish I would have just gone with hard chrome from a different vendor.

EDIT: You guys were discussing House Black, not CP2, my apologies.

I like how you roll. My P220 Compact SAO in House Black from a few years ago.

I don't know which of their finishes this is since the guy I bought this P6 from had had them do it. Given how many P6s looked when they were imported, I'm impressed.

I had one done, it came out great. O.D. frame and black slide. I went with Duracoate. I sold it several years ago and it sold fast.
