OsageCountyGunsGerman P220 with Serial on Left / Right of Frame
Hi all!
I acquired a CPO P220 with a German frame / slide but the serial stood out. Strangely, the serial is on both sides of the frame in different fonts. I can't recall seeing this before and figured the experts here may have encountered it before. I suspect the firearm has been refinished and the barrel replaced. I haven't looked at older P220's in quite a while but the trigger is solid (likely replaced too).
Have you guys run into this before?
I'll have some better photos shortly. Thanks in advance!

Top Gun SupplyI don't recall ever seeing that!
Maybe it's an ambi gun.

RHINOWSOThe barrel is definitely newer than the folded carbon steel slide, just by the font on the chamber.

OsageCountyGunsI was thinking perhaps the serial on the left was added in Exeter... I've got to dig through my archive of photos to compare serial fonts....

OTDYou will find similar oddities in the P210 series of the very first pistols made. The background for such tings can mostly found in adjustments of the equippment. They either programed the engraving eqippment and tested start positions on both sides of the frame, or an employee was not told or forgot where the correct place for the serial number was. Similar oddly marked P210 became desired collector pieces when pictures of such examples showed up in reference books.

Yeah, I was wondering why they’d do that - but I didn’t know if new USA SIGs had the SN on that side or not.
Either way looks like a nice CPO P220, regardless of the double up to catch up SN.

SIGWolfNever seen that before, but there are all kinds of little quirks and oddities with SIG, expecially, as has been mentioned, a CPO gun.
It's interesting.

OsageCountyGunsThanks guys. Ironically, I didn't realize it at time I posted but I received a second similar firearm about 25 serial numbers earlier with two serial numbers like the other one. It must have been something particular to a group of these...
