I've always liked the Equinox pistols. I think they look great. My first one was a P220 but I traded it towards a S&W Model 41 because I rarely shoot .45ACP. I don't regret that trade because the Model 41 is an awesome suppressor host now but I did miss the Equinox. Being a 9mm fan I decided to get a P229 version only to find out that it's readily available only in .40S&W, an ammo for which I have no use. My wife eventually bought a P238 Equinox that scratched the itch but she sold it last week. This weekend I happened to run into a P229 Elite Equinox in 9mm (E29R-9-EQE). It was a little more than I wanted to spend on one but I decided to pick it up anyway. I like this one a lot because it has the short slide serrations and extractor. Functionally, the full length serrations and long extractor are fine but I've always preferred the look of the short versions, probably because my first SIG (P239) has them. It also has a factory short reset & short reach trigger. I like the short reset but I could give or take the short reach trigger. I could also give or take the beavertail. It was manufactured 10DEC2010 and has an older frame that uses the 13-round mags, not the newer -1 mags. It has been shot but I don't think much. There is some firing residue but no visible wear other than a few small cosmetic blemishes. Overall I'm very happy to have it. Hopefully I don't foolishly let it go down the road. My first SIG, the DA/SA P239, is still carried often. In fact, it was on me today when I bought the P229. It's my dedicated motorcycle CCW pistol. This is the Model 41 that I ditched my P220 Equinox to get. No regrets there. ============================================ Photographs: https://photobucket.com/u/photoman12001 ----------------------------------- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/photoman12001/ ----------------------------------- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/photoman12001/videos

Very nice! You don't see too many of them in 9mm, I'd have a hard time passing that up too.

Photoman- Nice score! I'm a fan of the P229 Equinox for all the reasons you mentioned. Which gun stores do you frequent? I imagine it is slim pickins for you since you are inside the beltway. Surprisingly there is no shortage of places to shop around here. Some of them are a bit of a drive but I've gotten some amazing deals since I moved here and my collection has doubled over the past three years. My wife is thrilled We are headed for Colorado next year. I'm hoping the firearm scene is good around Colorado Springs, mostly for shooting. I need somewhere to shoot outdoors with my suppressers. The NRA range is great but they don't allow photos/video and shooting suppressed indoors really kills the fun factor. These are the places I frequently visit. I've gotten great deals (some real steals) at most of them. The Virginia Gun Trader forum also contributed a lot.

Good thing you found that bad boy before I did. I visit VA Arms often. Just not recently. They have a really good consignments section and reasonable prices. I've also bought a couple of my favorite pistols from All Shooters. Walter likes to keep a bit of an off the wall inventory in addition to the usual Glock/M&P/SIG/Springfield 1911 that so many shops in our area stock. Have fun in Colorado. It's beautiful there. I've been to Gunnison County, where they shot True Grit (John Wayne version). I'll tell you what, you get into those big open spaces and breathe in that thin air and you feel like John Wayne! You should swing by Va Arms. They have a lot of great stuff right now. I was teetering among three guns and this SIG won due to scarcity. I wouldn't say it was a great deal, probably fair market price or a little below. The last one I got there was a good deal: CZ Kadet with four mags for $500. My wife sold her P238 Equinox via consignment through All Sooters and I picked up my S&W CS9D there for a good price. They do have a great selection. ============================================ Photographs: https://photobucket.com/u/photoman12001 ----------------------------------- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/photoman12001/ ----------------------------------- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/photoman12001/videos
