I've searched, but didn't find much on this. Anybody have the details on Sig's "Super Finish" that they are advertising on some of their small parts like sears, and safety levers, etc? More robust and slicker than their blued and phosphate parts i'm assuming?

With Sig, rainbow fruity colors that have a bit of purple day-glo finish are probably its makeup.

That sounds an awful lot like NP3.

I believe this all about electropolishing. For those not familiar, it removes micro burrs and improves surface finish generally. Must fast and consistent than abrasive polishing for small parts.

I personally don't care, but, wouldn't it be best if someone curious enough about this to ask SIG CS directly?

SIG has published that hey use electropolishing, at least on the legions. Its cheap, no reason not to do it

Electropolishing is a process, like PVD and electroplating are processes. But, what is the finish?

If it's anything like NP3 it should be good. I have pistol finished in NP3+ and it great. They say it's self lubricating. Im not smart enough to know the chemical makeup but it wears really well and looks nice.

Nickel Polytetrafluoroethylene

Nickel Teflon®? That's what Google pulled up. Its lubricity properties sound similar to NP3's. Self-lubricating, many of the Google results say.

From one plating company's website (CMC Inc):

"Nickel PTFE adds to the already sleek surface of electroless nickel, yielding a very low friction surface. It consists of co-depositing microscopic beads of Teflon (up to 20%) with electroless nickel.

This coating offers an excellent solution for sticking, galling or drag problems with moving parts and heated seal surfaces in automotive or machinery applications.

For molds and dies, it improves the release or anti-stick properties."
