TheFrontRangeExcellent! I had a set of KB’s grips at one time and then determined I didn’t have a revolver really “worthy” of them haha!

Sounds like a problem money would've solved. In many ways the revolver is both easier and cheaper to get than the grips now.
To OP, very nice!!!

BlackAgnesThe bottom one is a very early Model 66 .357, note the short-lived stainless rear sight.

And here's a transitional, post-war Heavy Duty converted to a Target configuration, most likely by Kings. Stocks are KB Black Walnut...

blindrefNot wanting to drift this thread, but did you mean a Post War Transition 38-44 Outdoorsman, or 38-44 Heavy Duty? The Heavy Duty didn't have an adjustable rear sight and your gun does. I know King did all kinds of crazy conversions back in the day. Is that also a King hammer?
I love those King red reflector front sights and have a couple S&W's with them.
Beautiful KB's!!!

No, it was a Heavy Duty and was converted. Sights are Kings but the hammer (not cockeyed) is stamped Micro.
Here is the relevant excerpt from Roy's letter:
We have researched your Smith & Wesson 38-44 Heavy Duty, Post World War II Transition Variation, caliber .38 S&W Special. Company records indicate that this handgun with serial number S73XXX was shipped from the factory on April 29, 1949 and delivered to Wyeth Hardware Co., St. Joseph, MO. The records indicate this revolver was shipped with a 4-inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered silver medallion walnut grips. This shipment was for 20 units of this model all in the same configuration and they were billed at the wholesale price of $39. l8 each. This revolver was modified by the King Sight Co. after it was shipped from the factory.
