Hey, I'm exploring the P320 series after a couple years of owning a P365, so it's sorta like going from a couple chocolate/vanilla choices to a zillion flavors including Rocky Road... I'd like to end up with a full size P320 (4.7" barrel) with my first RDS. I'm a fan of Hilton Yam at 10-8 Performance and he has a video on his YouTube page that details what sounds to me to be the perfect (and attainable) range/shooting class/home defense pistol. His is based on an M17 with a Wilson Combat grip module and a GrayGuns trigger kit. Not seeing any P320s at my LGS, so it feels like I'm forced to GunBroker, where I do see M17s but also a fair number of P320 X-Full pistols that would also seem to get me close to Hilton's pistol, for a bit less and in black...and no safety, which I would remove from the M17 anyway if adding the Wilson Combat module. Biggest question I have is whether the X-Full has the same sight plate/mounting arrangement as the M17, as in the pics I can find it's hard to see if the optics plate is connected to the rear sight or if the rear sight is mounted separately..can anybody detail the similarities/differences between the slides and RDS mounting systems between the two? I would be looking at Sig's Romeo 1 Pro or perhaps the Trijicon RMR2 with an adapter plate needed there, if I'm understanding any of this! ...and, is GunBroker pretty straight-forward, any gotchas to worry about? The vendor I'm looking at (Sportsmans Supply) says it's one of GB's 10 top sellers.. Thanks! Commo

For what it's worth, I'd be tempted to get the pistol you want with a rear sight notch that's separate from the cutout to accomodate the RDS if you're interested in having both an RDS and iron sights at the same time. I'm looking at putting an optic on an M17 Bravo, and the two options staring me in the face are either to get a Leupold and then spend another $80 on a 'bolt-on' rear iron sight as well as an indeterminate amount on a front sight that will work with that rear sight. The best alternative I've seen so far seems to be an adapter piece to use an RMR from Bobro Engineering with a fixed rear sight, but it's currently out of stock at Bobro's website. Gunbroker should be fine, since they're just an intermediary - the question is what you agree to and how well the vendor will live up to the agreement. FWLIW, I haven't heard anything bad about Sportsman's Supply myself, but others may have better information than I do. Perhaps the one thing to be aware of is that Gunbroker is going to start charging state sales tax on all transactions as of January 1, 2021.

Il, thanks for the thoughts -- I think the X-Full may do that but just can't tell with the info/pics I've found so far.. Trijicon is just a few miles from me here in Michigan so I'd like to get the RMR2 but I guess cost has to be a factor sometimes..and it might come down to availability these days. The Bobro plate you mention with its attached rear sight might end up being the answer there. The Romeo 1 Pro will bolt right on and there's something to be said for that, too...I've seen them for $339 on GunBroker.. Commo

There are lots of ways to do this. On an M17 you can do the DPP and its rear sight, for an RMR the bobro plate, and also the chpws plate which I like since it has a dovetail. Having tried both I would get the RMR and either of the two plates. On a full size 320 it really depends on the starting model. I milled a classic slide and its fine with suppressor sights. But the Xray ones can have an adapter plate from a bunch of people as well, but my personal experience on that is limited. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

I have an M17 Bravo with a Wilson grip, the Bobro plate and a Holosun 507C-X2 red dot. Just shot today for the first time with the optic. Works pretty well with a .375" high black front sight I had laying around. I like it so far. The plate is held on with the screws that hold the sight plate on from inside the slide. They are not really big - about the same size as an Aimpoint Micro mount screw. So you have to use Loctite and get the torque right torque. I also set up an M17 with a DPP earlier. The Leupold "stack-on" rear BUIS is OK but it's a target sight not a combat sight. Dawson makes a simpler iron sight that fits the DPP rear dovetail and it comes with a matching .400" high front sight in either fiber optic or plain black. Any P320 with the M17/M18 sight plate will work the same way, including the X-Full, X-Carry, and X-Compact. A P320 RXP (regular or X) with factory Romeo 1 Pro will have a rear iron sight dovetail and suppressor sights. The P320 Pro Series (seems to be available thorough LE distributors) has the rear sight dovetail and should have holes for both the DPP and RMR under the cover plate. The safety on the M17/M18 is not easily removable like the P365 and P365XL, it is a different FCU housing and some other parts are different like the trigger bar. Ideally, you should look at a P320 Pro with iron sight dovetail and RMR holes and mount the RMR direct to slide. With this setup Siglite or X-Ray Suppressor sights will give you a low cowitness with an RMR. The DPP might still be too high to use the iron sights though. This message has been edited. Buy this and be happy! https://www.sigsauer.com/p320x-rxp-full-size.html Romeo1 Pro direct mount from the factory and suppressor height x-rays sights. Just change the grip module and you are set. It is an awesome setup. ________________________ "Don't mistake activity for achievement." John Wooden, "Wooden on Leadership"

The problem is paying for a sight that is not going to be used. The Romeo 1 Pro is not anywhere close to an RMR, and is well behind Holosun, even though the R1Pro costs more than the Holosun and sells close to the DPP in price. You might be able to sell it and get your money back, since the incremental price with the pistol is less than buying it separately. But, that pre-supposes the RXP has RMR mounting holes, because if an adapter plate is need the iron sights will probably not be tall enough. The DPP is too tall as well. That said, Sig's direction with the M17/M18 and non-RXP X-Series to have the sight plate was a bad decision. Losing the rear iron sight to add an optic is not acceptable for a self defense or duty pistol. It is OK for a range only gun like the Legion but still not optimal for competition.

Thanks to all for the quick input. I decided that the P320 XFull model was where I want to start this project so lobbed in a bid tonight on a just closing GunBroker auction and danged if I didn't win..so now it's up to my FFL and the seller to finish the deal.. I'm interested to see how much I like the X Full grip module, could possibly find I don't need the Wilson Combat grip module, so I'll shoot it a while before launching into the upgrades. As far as the RDS goes I'm probably going to do the old 'buy once, cry once' and hold out for the Trijicon RMR. Any comments, analysis, told-you-so's welcome! Shoot well in 2021.. Commo
