Taurus G3 Compact
These pistols were on sale this past weekend for around $250.00 Does anyone have any experience with them.

There are a number of good reviews on Youtube. The last Taurus I had was one of the ones made on Beretta machinery and it worked fine.

While I have heard great things about that gun, I’m not buying any more Taurus pistols.

I have a revolver that might as well be a paperweight. Everyone lets a bad gun or two get out into the wild, I’ve had problems with a Sig, a couple Rugers and a Smith. The difference is that all of those companies actually fixed the problem within a couple weeks the first time I sent the gun back. Taurus has had the gun twice and for long periods of time and despite them claiming they resolved the problem, the problem still exists. Their CS is also difficult to work with and will not work to help you in any way.

It’s only $250, but if you are going to buy it you can’t assume that if yours doesn’t work then they will make it right. If you buy the gun you are gambling $250 plain and simple.

As much as they might seem like a good deal, I would pass as you can find some other pistols for close to that price that have a better reputation. I found a S&W Shield 2.0 at a local dealer near me for only $230.00 out the door,(lucky timing) but similar guns can be had for around $300 or less used. I have had one issue with a S&W pistol years ago and they not took care of it quickly, less than x1 week turn around, they sent me some free hats, shirts and other items for my troubles.

I compare that to an issue I had with a Taurus years ago and I was told it would be a few months-literally- to get my gun back. When it came back, the same issue was not addressed and I was told I could send it back if I wanted on my dime.

Now if you could find an older Taurus PT92, I would jump on one of those if the price was right.

Much better pistols exists for not much more such as the Canik and Beretta APX. I am seeing posts of some buying the optics ready IWI Masada well under $400 too.

I have 3 that I paid $220 each for. They all go bang and hit where I aim and don’t jam. I said no more Taurus around 2002 but these are reliable.

I bought my 17 year old one 2 years ago, right before the panic, for around $240 after tax. I got him the 17 round mags, and he absolutely loves it. It has been 100% reliable and gone bang every time he has pulled the trigger.

I bought one on a whim 2 years ago for around $250 OTD. Went bang every time I pulled the trigger but I couldn’t get it to shoot a consistent group at 7 yards. Had a friend shoot it, same result. Sold it off, don’t miss it one bit.

Personally I’d look for a nice used Shield instead.

I know people dog Taurus but I bought my G2C several years ago and it has been stone cold reliable. The trigger isn't great but it's about like most compact striker fired pistols. It's a great deal.
