Yes KSGM, the photo assistant was fired because of that. (Think HK catalog cover/magazine loading F-Up) This is correct:

I remember this thread from the first few times around, but apparently I never posted in it. "My" gun is still the same, though...at least mostly. Back in 2019 it would have been a "Carry" model, but starting in early 2022 they gave me a full-size and I've found I prefer it. It's not actually "mine" in the sense that I don't own it, but if we're talking about the gun that I'm most confident will work and that I will perform the best with, this is it. I have nicer guns, guns that appeal to me more mechanically, and guns that I have more of an emotional connection to, but when the priority is top performance, this is the one I grab.
The gun is completely stock. The only changes I've made are to swap out the "medium" factory grip module for a "Large", and replaced the flat/straight trigger with a factory curved one.

Shoot the P220 the best but my gen 3 G26 goes traveling with me most often.

Posted back in June of 2019…….and nothing has changed.
Still the HK P2000 in 9mm or .40. I’ve started messing with carrying micro compacts/thin guns and using Optics but when the rubber meets the road I grab a P2000. Seems stupid as I have tons of options, arguably better ones, but nothing is as natural for me. My P2K’s are like an extension of me.

Kind of cool to see this thread resurrected. Quoted is my 2019 reply. The Glock 23 lives in a drawer in my kitchen with a holster and spare mag these days. It's my "all the guns are upstairs and everybody is sleeping" gun that I carry to work about twice a year.
"My gun" these days is a PDP. Compact 4" off duty and Match Steel Frame 5" for competition. Still tied to Glocks for work and carrying a 34 there but the PDP line, which didn't even exist when the thread was started is the gun for me now.
Perhaps will see this thread again in a few years.

I dont think I have "A" gun. I definitely have "A few" guns that are my "GO-TO"- Here's my evolution:
A few years in the Marines, and I fell in love with the 1911 platform. I was fortunate enough to tote around a customized one for a little bit. There's a few in the safe.
I can't complain about a BHP. Thin slide, carries well IWB, 9mm rounds now-a-days work pretty damn well.
I came on the job with a Sig P-226 back in 1995, and that thing shoots like a laser. I don't know how many flawless rounds through it. I was a huge Proponent of the .45 Caliber Round, and still somewhat am. So I switched to a Sig P-220 and carried 4 magazines on duty. Another proven gun and round.
When my Department finally pulled it's head out of it's ass and approved (those too damn dangerous***) Glocks, I couldn't snatch up a G-21 & TLR-1 and a G-30 fast enough. 13 Rounds of .45 in one mag? Count me in!!! A $.50 trigger job, some grip-tape, and that bad-mamma-jamma is (then) my favorite thing since white bread, sex and haircuts.
Somewhere I transitioned back to the 9mm again. I used he G-17 at the range / target shooting more than I was the G-21. Started reading up on the merits of the 9mm rounds, expansion, penetration... Hmmm, slightly lighter gun, more boolets? Wait, there's more! Ya mean a G-19 is slightly smaller, and I can use the G-17 Mags? Well shiiiiit.... I started using a G-17 with a TLR-1 and a G-19 and XC-1 for work and off duty. Then my Crack Dealer Neighbor does his usual "Psssst! Look what I got! " And that's how I ended up with a G-34, TLR-1hd & Trigicon RMR (and about 20- 17 round mags) for an incredible price- as my duty weapon.
I really liked the G-43X when my wife was trying out her's. So that's now my off duty.
In the safe that is pretty much "quick access", I have an AR, the G-21, the G-19 for things that go "bump" in the night. The G-17 and a 1911 are stashed safely in another part of the house. I toss the G-43X is on top of the dresser as soon as I get home.
* EDIT TO ADD- I had a S&W 442 then traded it for a S&W 340PD- great for tossing it in a baggie front pocket! And as a back-up gun. Especially in a jacket pocket in the winter. Hammerless of course. I’ll put a hole in the pocket and a few rounds on target before a bad guy realizes what had happened!
*** Those too damn dangerous Glocks- Well, our dumber than a box-o-rocks former Superintendent LeRoy Martin tried jamming a loaded and cocked Glock back into the Gen-1 container. Yeah, for those of you that know, know it went *BANG*, and sent the round through the partition, almost hitting a boss that was in the booth next to him. Just a little Chicago Police History Lesson for ya.This message has been edited. Last edited by: CPD SIG, May 15, 2025 09:35 PM

Gotta love a gun box with a big peg that goes right through the trigger guard. I'd almost forgotten about those, lol. I wonder if more idiots had NDs stuffing their Glock into one of those, or pulling the trigger on a loaded gun trying to take it down. Natural selection at work...

Ya know I always wondered if anybody was dumb enough to ND a Glock in one of those boxes but I always thought nahhhh nobody is that dumb.
I stand corrected.

I haven’t strayed too far over the years: my S&W 642-1 got passed over for a newer M&P 340 and my Glock 26.4 and SIG P239-9 both got passed over for a Glock 43.
I still have the 642 and the 26 but they never come out of the safe anymore.

LeRoy Martin was the Superintendent of Police at the time we transitioned from revolvers to semiautomatics. Think of him as more of a “Political Appointee” vs Brain Trust. Couldn’t pour piss out of a boot… There he is, trying to jam a load G-17 into the old Glock Tupperware Container… yeah, ***BANG***. The round went through the partition, ricocheted, and almost hit the first deputy superintendent.
I knew two Range instructors that were there that day. From what they said, the Glock representatives just grabbed all of their guns and left without saying a word.

This is starting to become, “It”. Sig 320 XTen Comp with Romeo X Enclosed sight. Yes, even old farts like me can change with the times. First carry gun for me with a dot. If I answered this post when it originated it probably would’ve been a Smith 6” 686 Hunter.

It's been the g19 forever. I really like the 365xl but the g19 is still my favorite. I recently picked up a ruger rxm and I'm in like it so much it might replace my gen 3 19 as my favorite.

I just sold my last G43 and, just before that, my last couple of Shadow Systems CR920s.
My "gun" is now either a G43X that I have fixed up (don't take much to do that) the way I like or my 45 Smith M&P Shield 2.0.
Two others occupy a place in my life, a Smith Bodyguard 2.0 and a Sig P365 that I finally have fixed up the way I like it (a bit more expensive than the G43X to do).

The SP2022 is still with me; carried it today a bit. But now the first item to cross my mind to load up should the news media scream we should panic; I become a Fudd and bring out the Gen. 5 Glock 22.
