First, I have a P-220 chambered in .38 Super and LOVE it. I shoot the P-220/.38 Super better than my P-220's/.45. However, I have longed for a 1911. Several years ago, I purchased a used Wilson Professional. While it shot ok, it did not knock my socks off, as I expected. I eventually sold it and found a local Series 70 Combat Commander in .38 Super. I shot patterns, not groups with this Colt and learned I needed to have a barrel fitted, to achieve better accuracy. I had a barrel fitted to it, and it did shoot better, but no where as good as my P-220/.38 Super. For the past several years, I have looked for the right 1911. I really wanted to try another Wilson, or buy a Nighthawk. something about being hand made appealed to me. However, every time I found a Wilson Supergrade with the features I wanted, or a Nighthawk Talon 2, they were quite expensive. I always ended back at the Dan Wesson Guardian. While if checked most of the boxes, it was at least 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. All of the reviews I have read were very positive, but most were .45. Last Monday, I found a new (serial # in the 2526xxx range) for a smokin' price. I bought it on-line ands it was delivered today. First impressions, the packaging is beautiful. The fit and finish are perfect. I hope it shoots as good as it looks. I may not get to shoot it for a few weeks, bit look forward to posting a range report. Any other Guardian/.38 Super Owners out there? If so, how do you like yours? Niech Zyje P-220 Steve

Nice! The P220 makes for a great pistol in .38 Super. I managed to convert a few others to run .38s as well. Send us some pics when you have time.

Get a 9mm barrel for it. I LOVE my 2 9mm government 1911's. They're a lot of fun to shoot.
