I'm probably behind the times, but it seems as though Coonan has closed their doors once again. Anybody know the deal? I have one and it's fine, but I guess no warranty now! ___________________________ "I Get It Now" Beth Greene

Last I'd read they'd been looking for investors (for quite some time) and apparently didn't get them. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

Their checkbook should be pretty easy to balance I'd think __________________ "Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician." -Jeff Cooper

To Do What is Right and Just |
I can't say I'm shocked. For the price range they are in, and being more a novelty, I can't see them having a huge following. Plus add in the last few years with the resurgence of 10mm, and 357 mag in a bottom feeder that does nothing better seems to have fallen off quickly.

^^ Agreed. With the Desert Eagle its manufacturer could get away with offering a 357MAG offshoot because the 50AE chambering will always intrigue, dominate and garner enough sales to justify addressing lesser caliber builds. But with the Coonan .357MAG alone isn't enough to spur buyer interest, especially since 10mm offerings in 1911 form are so abundant.

Due to contractual obligations, we have been unable to discuss the big changes that are happening. We sincerely apologize for the lack of communication. This process has taken far longer than we had anticipated, but there have been a lot of things going on behind the scenes. We have been working very hard to restructure the company in ways that will allow us to serve our customer’s needs better and faster. These changes will also allow us to pursue even more exciting new projects. While obstacles can pop up easily during this type of transition, we do hope to have things up and running by the end of November. Once we have completed the process, we will contact our customers with delivery dates on orders for pistols, FAL receivers, and accessories.

Pending merger with already established manufacturer? If people would mind their own damn business this country would be better off. I owe no one an explanation or an apology for my personal opinion.

Remington's going to buy them and show them the right ways to make guns and run a business. _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

That notice was posted on their webpage last November, and has remained unchanged since then. They just recently took down or locked down their Facebook page. There are quite a few people complaining that they paid Coonan in advance for pistols they never received, and now can't get an answer out of them via phone or email. I wish I had bought more mags for mine...

No Compromise |
Last time I talked to Dan was some years ago. He explained how difficult it was to produce magazines. He said 50% didn't make it through production, and had to be discarded. If you want to invest in Coonan Arms, buy up all the magazines you can find, first. H&K-Guy

I wonder what makes it so difficult? Not to take anything away from Coonan, but the mag always reminded me of an upsized Ruger MKII magazine. I will say that whatever they do works, mine runs flawlessly with 38's or 357's.
