Optic footprint list Login/Join
Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

I am looking for a list of firearms footprint type and a list telling me what each optic matches what footprint.
Anybody know of such list that I could access line and print it out?

I found one for the optics here: https://lakelinellc.com/red-do...hts-footprint-guide/

be pretty darn hard to do because it changes all the time. and then there are plate systems that let you change an intermediary system. And there are a zillion firearms with more coming all the time with optic cuts...and...and...
Never seen such a list.
But why would you care?

I was recently looking for an optic for a pistol that was optic ready. The website of the gun manufacture did NOT mention (that I could find) the footprint they used so I had no idea where to start on an optic.
I started asking around and nobody I asked had a good answer for what I was looking for.
I realize there there a ton of guns out there that vary but a list would certainly help.
It would help consumers if the industry would adopt a common standard. Even if a brand would use the same footprint on all of it's models would help.
Imagine rifles with a dozen or so different types of mounts for scopes.

That's actually what we have. With the exception of Picatinny rails, pretty much every rifle has a unique screw and contour pattern on the receiver that needs a base to interface with a common ring.

Such a list would seem impractical.

The compact vs full size slides require different optics. Screw sizes vary. Adapter plates may or may not work.

It may be helpful for your quest to simply ask the forum for what you seek. As I know you have seen, often in literally minutes the forum will give the answer.
