P210 racking the slide Update
I'm considering buying a target P210 as a range gun. Can't find an example locally to handle. How difficult is to rack the slide? I recently had to sell a 9mm S&W Shield when I discovered I could no longer rack the slide (old girly hands). I have no problem with my 1911 or Hi Power. Will the P210 be a problem for me?

If you have no problem with the Hi-Power, then you will have none with the P210.

Agree. Hi Power is very stiff.

The full size P210s aren’t bad, as they are sprung fairly light. The newer P210A Carry models with the 4” barrel are much worse. Occasionally I manually cock the hammer first before I rack the slide, because it’s so annoying.

I have a 210-6. The slide is pretty easy to rack. The only problem though, is that because the slide runs inside the frame there's less space for you to grasp the slide. If you can rack the 1911/Hi Power with your thumb and forefinger, then you'll have no problem. If you have to take a bigger grasp, then you might have a problem.

Where does one find info on this 4" model? The SIG website doesn't return anything but holster and grips to a P210A search.

The 4" Carry model was out for a short time then discontinued. You need to look for it on the secondary market like GB.
The Carry Custom Works is still on SIG's website, but, it's a limited edition. Don't think SIG is making it any longer.

Thanks for the quick responses. I feel a little more confident now buying a 210 for range use.

I used to own a 210 and presently own both a HiPower and 1911. I have arthritis in my hands but still could operate the 210 slide without much thought. It does have a smaller area on the slide to grasp, similar to the CZ75 but it still wasn't a problem for me.

By the way, there are lots of semi-autos that I won't own due to this exact issue for me...

Happy shooting !! (Robert Burke is your 210 guru)

Update. Bought a new P210 target off GB. No problem racking the slide, easier than my Hi Power. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the update. It's always good to learn how things like this turn out.
