Have you ever bought a gun just because the asking price was low considering all the accessories it had on it? You know, a rifle because the scope on it was worth a lot or something like that?

Today I purchased an 870 Police Magnum, with factory Wilson/Scattergun Tech. ghost ring sight, Knoxx Stock and a Surefire 618LM LED. All for $450?

The 870PM itself doesn't look like a police trade in, it looks about brand new. It has the factory mag extention, 20in barrel with factory front rifle sight. I didn't think I'd like the Knoxx stock but now that I have it home and have shouldered it some I'm kinda digging it. I mostly wanted the Surefire 618LM LED fore end light. I have a Surefire 870DSF and am not real happy with it.

I figure the shotgun itself is worth $300-350 (due to all the police trade in guns out there) and the stock is worth $100 so in my mind I got the fore end light for free.

I didn't really need another 870PM as I already have 2 nice ones just like it, same sights even but I figured it was worth it just to get the light and that I'd just turn around and sell the rest.

A few years ago I bought a P226 Sport with 25 magazines. I sold the pistol for 2.5x what I paid and kept 23 of the magazines.

Have you ever done something like that?

oh yeah. i have a safe full of used rifles that i bought over the years because the scope, usually a leopold VX2 or better was included for the price of the rifle by itself.

or grips. picked up a ruger super blackhawk recently that had real Sambar stag grips for $450. $250 pair of grips for free. plus i would have bought the pistol with pachmayrs at that price.

Surely. Many package deals are a bargain.

Often, when presented with a pistol deal, the decision rides on how many magazines are included.

I ran into a “make an offer” sale on a pair of 226 Tacops. I bought both, put new standard mags In the box of one and liberated the long mags, and sold the pistol for almost what I paid for it. I didn’t bill it as a Tacops, just a 226 with enhanced sights.

Made a local deal on a 320 for this very reason.

ETA: Oops, forgot the P6 with 6 magazines with flush floorplates, extra grips, 225 trigger and takedown lever upgrade along with CCR refinishing.

Yep.

I've bought several packages before where I was able to sell the accessories separately for what I paid for the whole thing, getting free guns, in essence. I've also done the reverse, buying a package and later selling the gun for what I paid, getting free accessories.

It pays to keep an eye out for good deals, know what you're looking at (or at least have strong Google-Fu), and have spare cash laying around.

I bought a 17L last year because it had a Zev trigger and Trijicon HD sights for $700. As much as I like the Glock long slides I decided the 17L was too much and I wasn’t that impressed with the Zev but to be honest I never tuned it beyond what it was originally in the gun when I bought it. The only thing I kept was the sights. Big Grin

I bought several of the P6/P225 pistols back in the day just for the magazines.
