I’m actually thinking about picking up a USP compact somewhere down the road to go along with trying appendix carry. I like the idea of carrying a Glock 19 sized gun with a light attached because they’re just so much more shootable. But I also don’t want to have to wear anything different than I currently do to comfortably conceal a smaller sized pistol without getting printing, etc. The only way I’ll carry a pistol pointed at my junk, at least starting out with trying that method, is if it’s hammer fired and has a double action trigger. I’ve never liked the way that a SIG P229 fits my hand, so the HK USP compact may be an ideal choice for me to try appendix carry and see if it’s for me. I’m glad to have clicked on this thread, even if it ends up costing me a bunch of money down the road…

No doubt a striker-fired ready to shoot your junk (or anything else for the matter) is a concern. I feel the same way and prefer at least a safety for the SF but overall like a HF much more.

I must be one of the few here that has never owned, or even touched, anything HK. But this thread is making me think that I might slip over to my LGS early next week to see what he's got.
I've been pretty happy with my Hellcat and CR 920 though, so it'll depend on how the HK feels in my hand and how the trigger seems (that LEM Light seems interesting).

OK, so I replaced the trigger with the GG version. It is not for me. The blade is to wide to be comfortable for me to shoot especially in DA. I think I am going to order the HK USP/USP Tactical Match trigger kit. I will have the GG trigger in the classifieds shortly.

Thanks for the feedback on the Grayguns trigger. That is one thing I had wondered about as well, when viewing their pictures on the website. It definitely looks wider than a lot of flat triggers out there. The match setup does also sound intriguing. If you’d like to send me a message with details, I may be interested in the GG.

^^^ Skip the USP and buy a P2000; it has much better ergonomics and it doesn't have a proprietary rail.

So have a pair of Compacts as well as a P2000, and I at least to me the P2000 fits my hand better. I think that is a very under-valued gun, though there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Compact.

Nope, I didn’t change anything besides the barrel swap. It’s an RCM barrel from HKParts. It’s been flawless.

Some people do change the hammers on the compact to the non bobbed version. I don't intend to but I have seen it done.

I did change the hammer on my USPC, part of the HK match trigger kit. Worth the effort, has a nice clean action now. Trijicon night sights on the way and that should be the last change for this one.
