How many of you carry a stainless P229? Is it so much heavier that it is impossible to carry comfortably? Also do you think it is too flashy?

Too flashy???? Do you plan to open carry, wave it around from time to time? It's your EDC, no one really cares what kind of finish it has and stainless steel is a good finish to have for EDC.

I’ve carried a P220ST and it is significantly heavier than the alloy framed pistol. I would imagine the differences between the P229s would be about the same.
Flashy? Nah. It’s gonna be covered up 99% of the time.
Also, “comfortable carry” is a very subjective thing. I’ve carried several different pistols. Some of the heavier guns were easier to carry because of different design features. (Slimmer, grip/barrel ratio, etc)

Good belt, good holster, you should be go to go.

Even large and relatively heavy guns can be carried comfortably, provided you're using a quality holster and quality gun belt.

I carried a shiny stainless S&W 3913 for years, and never once worried about it being "too flashy". Concealed is concealed. And even if someone does get a glimpse of it while you're moving or reaching, most of the gun will be enclosed in a neutral-colored holster anyway.

If I can carry a lighter gun, and it does the job as efficiently as the heavier gun, no question which one I prefer. Comfort or not, heavier is heavier, and heavier is less comfortable than lighter.

The Glock 19 cult really represents. 25 years ago, the 19 was the only choice. Today, it is just a choice. With a cult that never passes the opportunity to say-

“Should I get the beef or pulled pork sandwich?”

“Well, I’m going to be ‘that guy’ and tell you just to get the Glock 19”

As to stainless guns, a good belt is a must. I carried a P226ST for years and the belt made it or broke it. Although there are lighter options, the stainless soaks up recoil.

You can EDC anything you have the fortitude and will to keep carrying.

Personally I default to polymer framed semi-autos for IWB carry.

Sure, if all I had was a stainless P229, I'd carry it.

But probably part of the reason I don't have any stainless carry sized guns is they don't bring anything useful over a G19-M&P-HK aside from the aforementioned 'soaking up of recoil', which isn't high on my list of needs for a EDC.

Sure, it can be done. A member her touts carrying 2 x Desert Eagles in shoulder holsters - personally I can carry & conceal a G19, 1x17 reload, pocket 380 & an ankle J-frame (both with reloads) and fixed blade knife in carpenter pants and t-shirt. Is it hard? Not really. Is it comfortable? Meh, not really and I don't do it as a matter of daily life.

You do you - give it a try and you'll figure out how it does / doesn't work for you.

I shot a stainless P229. Nice shooter, but one major chunk of a gun. Not something I'd want on my hip all day.

FWIW, I carried a 4506 for years till I went to a 226. I still walk with a distinct lean to my right

I carry what I am most comfortable and competent shooting. In my case, that is a M11-A1. I have carried a 220ST. Your rig makes all the difference.

I have a lighter and small gun (PPS) and it is not any more comfortable to carry than the M11-A1 so I don't carry it because the SIG is just a better gun for me.
