I have asked for, and been grant permission from the forum admin. to post this question:

I want to sell my SIG P226 NSW one of 2,000 pistol, new in the box, Navy Seal certification, never fired, lock, manual et al.

I have searched the internet for days, and can not find any sales of his firearm.

If anyone has any knowledge of what this firearm is worth, please post or email me so I can sell it for a proper FMV.

Thank you, and thank Parabellum for allowing me to post this.

First, log into Gunbroker. If you do not have one, this link will not work, Click here for a search.

Basically, do an Advanced search, and the select the Completed tab. Do a search for SIG Sauer P226 NAVY to see the results of guns sold.

That 50th anniversary P226 MK-25 is damn expensive, but it looks like the regular NAVYs are running $1,200 to $1,300 at quick glance.

Thank you, Steve495. I took your advice on Gunbroker, but "no results".

So to clarify, this is the non-railed, 1 of 2000, initial release?

If so, I don't see any on GB search that match those criteria either.

I think any previous comps if there are any are pre-2020 run-up so it's hard to predict what a FMV would be in today's market. Given values on other Sig pistols, probably 2k+ but it's really hard to judge the market on them right now.

If it were mine, I'd consign it with a reputable GB seller who has a big following like sarah15 or Keystone Arms in PA. They'll take top-notch pics, offer CC processing and layaway which in my experience ALL drive up values. Keystone does 15% total fees inclusive of GB costs. They recently sold (in the last 30 days) a NIB pre-ban FNH FNC and recent import JDI SIG/SAN 550P for record values. Penny start and let err rip.

If the goal is to list it here, maybe follow the "proto" model if that were possible.

There is a 2018 topic in Sig Forum showing the NSW guns selling on the high end for $1,200.00. Givin that many of the more modern and standard production models of the P226 are bringing every bit and more of that, I agree your pistol will fetch above 2 grand. Maybe 2.5 or even higher in a bidding war. Think hard on this before you sale it.

This of course is an ideal time for sellers. Higher end guns should go to auction. That way it won't matter that you don't know what the value is. You'll find the value from the final bidder.

Not sure how special you gun is but I agree that gun broker is not the place to try and determine a fair price. It is fine for 'regular' guns but I doubt something special will give you what you want. I agree that here is a good place to start.

Consider putting it on GB with a reserve of what you think is fair.

I’d argue the opposite. In today’s crazy market, here is not a good place to establish value. The reach of this forum is likely a fraction of a percentage of the reach of GB. With respect to pricing look at the last few months of sales in the classifieds here, then check similar guns on GB. For instance I sold a W. German P226, just a ‘regular’ gun, on GB a few months back for over $1600. I could not have got that here, and although I did not have a thread on it, had I solicited FMV here, I feel certain that a number that high would not have been even suggested. Send your Navy to Jonathon at Eastwoods Arms. He has a stellar rep on GB, will take great pics, and charges 10% of hammer price. That will get you the most for your Navy, and true FMV.

10% - 15% commission on a sale is well worth it to Not have to deal with it.

I'll basically ad to what others have said.

But, if in NIB, full-kit, etc., IMHO $1,200 would be on the low end of the range. They're WAY under valued IMHO (much like the Langdon 220's). Unfortunately SIG couldn't leave well enough alone and made more than the original 2000 pistols with the Anchor (but not the NSW S/N), which didn't help the market at all.

Also keep in mind NSW0001 was auctioned off for ~$25K.

FWIW, I have a particularly special NSW pistol with quite the little story behind it. I tried GB a couple/few years back, and no one even came close to my reserve. Basically got offered a couple hundred bucks more than a standard NIB 226. Also got a couple 'my brother's best friend's nephew's dog walker was a SEAL, can you sell it at this ridiculously low price?' BS.

Unless you're really in need of funds, now might not be the best time to try and sell. Tho some folks are getting their 'stimulus'Roll Eyes BS $$, so then again now might not be a terrible time as someone might use the cash to buy a pistol. Also keep in mind, any NIB 9mm pistol these days is a good seller...if you had 2 boxes of ammo to chip in, you could probably ask $2,500. Wink

As others have said, list it on GB with a reserve price you'd feel good about (factoring fees, shipping, etc). and see how it plays out. If you don't get a fair offer, it's a mighty nice addition to have in the collection.

Good luck,
Boss
