Hello, I'm new to this forum. I was hoping this would be a good resource to help me make my decision. I have carried a Springfield 1911 Loaded Target most of my life. When I need even more concealment I carry a khar cm9. I recently purchased a ruger pc carbine and I want a pistol with mag interchangeability with it. They make a glock magwell for it but I do not like the feel of a glock. When i draw my 1911 or khar with eyes closed and open my eyes the sights line up perfectly and muscle memory guides me straight on target. With a glock I have to cock my wrist at an uncomfortable downward angle to get the same sight picture. Its unnatural feeling. I have even tried a highly modified glock 17 with undercut trigger guard and Backstrap. It was better but still too far off. I want Single/Double action pistol. With a feel thats not too far off from my single stack pistols. And magazine interchangeability with the pc carbine. I purchased a sig p226 mag and with a slight modification it works in the pc carbine with the SR9 magwell. Correct me if I'm wrong but that leads me to believe I could get a p226 or p229 mag to work in the pc carbine after slight modification. My father has a p226 eclipse. Its very bulky feeling in the grip. But I believe it has an after market laminated grip on it. I understand that there's the standard sig grip, e2 grip, and g10 grip. Can those grips all be put on any p226 or p229? Which grip would give me the slimmest feeling profile and a grip angle closest to the 1911. Is there anything else I need to understand about the different models that could help get the control and feel im looking for?

I would trust just buying $12 Magpul Pmag Glock mags rather than modifying mags to match up w/ another gun. Glock mags aren't overly expensive either when compared to to other pistol mags. Granted, I'm not familiar w/ that carbine or the mixing of mags for it. I understand the goal of having shared mags but Sig mags aren't cheap and I'm not aware of the modification needed where I would then depend on it to use in my carry gun. I'm sure some w/ more experience w/ the Ruger will chime in.

Its just a small hole drilled and squaring it up with a file. Quick and easy and shouldn't effect functionality at all.

I am not familiar with that carbine myself but have done a few "adaptations" prior with success. I did it to some Beretta mags but they are much cheaper than Sig mags but you can get Mec-Gar mags for the Sig, which are more inexpensive than the factory but are just as good. As far as the grip goes, my favorite has been the E2 grip. It is thinner compared to other options, gives a more comfortable angle and is really solid on the gun. The only issues are you have to change a few small pieces on the pistol itself, -decocker, hammer strut/seat/spring-if it is not a newer model P226 and it is best to use the old credit card trick to mount the grip. With the E2 grip being 1 piece and having to slide it over all of the internals/springs, the credit card or other rigid cards, are placed over the trigger spring as a guard so the E2 grip does not pull/compress it. It is very easy to do and there are many videos showing what I mean. You might want to get a couple extra springs, just in case, as they are cheap and easy to put on.

If you can find one, try the P225 Classic. Its grip fits me best out of all the Sigs I own. Second best fit is with the P220 with a thin grip. None of these will work in the Ruger though. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles

Yeah the 225 or 220 wouldn't work for my purpose as the only reason I'm buying this pistol is to carry and use with the pc carbine. Thus far my options are glock, ruger american pistols, sr9, or sig p226 and p229. If there are others that will work im not aware. Out of those options I would prefer the p226 or p229. I just want to make it as slim as possible and match the grip angle of a 1911 as closely as possible. From what I'm hearing a p229 with e2 grips, and srt kit would be my best option, is that correct?

While most of us would encourage more gun purchases, it sounds like you are firmly married to the 1911. Accept the ruger mags are different get a bunch and move on. *( the glock mag well is the way to go with glock magazines plentiful inexpensive and a reliable track record) A crazy option would be to find and older marlin. Camp carbine in 45 ( which uses 1911 mags) then sell the ruger

I don't care for the marlin. And the 1911 will certainly be a mainstay for me. But I am putting together a combo package where I can take 1 backpack with the pc carbine and 6 mags that will work in either gun, and cary the pistol. Its mainly for camping and similar purposes. I'll also cary the pistol on the farm some when I have the pc carbine. Instead of carrying the 1911 all the time.

I purchased a 1990 P228. I plan to install new stock recoil spring, new style trigger bar spring, SRT kit, new shorter trigger (sig short trigger or greyguns p-sait). As well as low profile decocker and slide release like what is on the legion, I believe these are just p224 parts. Lastly I want the e2 grips as i have smaller hands. I wear medium gloves and the fingers are still slightly too long. I am having a hard time finding e2 grip kit. I know i need the e2 strut and shoe for main spring as well that comes in the e2 kit. Does anyone know where i can get the e2 kit. Or an identical or smaller grip? Also are there any other maintenance/modifications items that you would recommend?
