In a world where robust and reliable solar/indoor light charging optics are a thing (Holosun SCS, etc.), I don't think there's a need for this.
Especially since it's fragile/unreliable.
Besides, even on traditional battery powered optics, changing a battery a few times per decade (or even once per year out of abundance of caution) is hardly an imposition. Barring perhaps those older types of optics that require you to unmount and remount/rezero the optic just to change the battery, which is thankfully quickly going the way of the dodo in newer optic generations.

I really can't bring myself to have a red dot on a CCW, I'm not out here bullseye shooting, I can put 13 rounds of 9mm in a 4" circle as fast as I can pull the trigger at defensive ranges that should be enough for me to stay alive.
