Agreed. Not sure what is happening there. The magwell should not be an issue since it's wide and should not interfere. I've seen folks trying to use 15 rounders by mistake instead of 17 since they are close. Sorry, probably can not be of more assistance here. If you are using a X5 Legion with the magwell you can seat the standard 17 round magazine in it but it is tough because of the extra grip length. Take off the magwell and see if the same magazine gives you issues. I attached a picture of 3 magazines that I just took. The first magazine is a standard new style 17 round magazine. The second is a 17 round Legion magazine. The last magazine is a 21 round magazine. You can see the difference in length in the legion and 21 round magazine, it is there to help clear the magwell and seat the magazine securely in the X5.

So can we not use the standard 17 round mags in the legion as is? Using the magwell. NRA Training Counselor NRA Benefactor Member

I have never tried this but no, a standard magazine will not seat in a X5 Legion with the magwell installed. I just tried it on 2 X5 Legions. If you remove the magwell they will work fine. I use the 21 round magazines and Legion mags when I shoot them. I am just curious how hard you are pushing in the magazines. Mine stop before the mag catch, It is very noticable. Here are some pictures showing the magazines and how they fit on a X Frame with a magwell. The standard magazine hits the front of the magwell and stops about a half of an inch from seating in the gun.

I am glad I could help, but I have to ask, how hard were you trying to jam the magazine into the gun to get it to seat? It was obvious the second I tried to insert it that it should not be there. It felt like I was trying to jam a compact magazine into a full size gun.

The discussion on mags that work in this thread confuses me given the original post. Here's someone who says they beat the army service life standard by 4x or better (army required service life of 25,000 rounds per pistol selection criteria, current life >100K for at least two of these guns), Who says that the MRBF is >50K rounds (6,944 MRBF (99 percent probability is the army test standard results) with no maintenance. Obviously some mag works, whatever else works is just gravy... “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

Well. You see. Those 2 guns. Share the same mags. So when I bought this here new pistola. I was trying to see if those same mags fit. Now I know that if I want to use the legion in a class. I will not be able to use 17 rounders. NRA Training Counselor NRA Benefactor Member

I get that issue on mags is worth discussing. and I appreciate the knowledge on what does/doesn't work. But what I am struggling to figure out is that those two guns and their usage and stoppage data in your original post make the stoppage data we have from the army trials like ridiculous. By amounts that make any statistical probability on a distribution curve zero. Any thoughts on that? “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”

The answer is....... 4? Here are my thoughts. I bought these p320s. I was an early adopter. There are some people On the forum who can attest to probably 20/30k of those rounds as they got shot in their presence. I understand it’s a high round count number. I am only reporting to you what I have lived. In addition I can’t attest to what was done to them both times they went to camp Bruce. I just looked them over in the safe. There is nothing unique or special about them. I just kept shooting them, and they kept shooting. What else can I say? NRA Training Counselor NRA Benefactor Member
