Right now I think that’s what I’m gonna get. First time buyer. I understand and accept the ramifications of owning a da/sa pistol. I’m willing and able to put in the practice/training time everyone mentions when the discussion involves a da/sa and a first time buyer. This will not be my only purchase as I’ll also be getting either a P365 or a P365XL to which I’ll add a Holosun 507K when they become available.

If you've got big enough hands, you'll like the MK25. Cheap 18 round mags from Mec Gar are a plus. Holsters can be hit or miss due to the pic rail though.
I think the DA/SA trigger will make you a better shooter in the long run.

Yep. And the plating on the internals mean it will last longer than you. Have fun!

Mmmmm... I don't have particularly big hands. My thoughts were, based on what I've read, to change out the grips to e2 grips. I'm practicing with a Sig Sauer P229 airsoft just to get some feel for the grip and such. That 229 grip seems a bit large for me. Is the P226 Mk25 larger. I held one in the local BassPro shop and it didn't seem much/any different than the P229. Thanks for the heads up on the grip and potential holster issues. I realized this morning I didn't ask any questions in my post - which I fully intended to do. As stated I do want the da/sa trigger. Not stated until now, I do want the pic rail. Knowing that does anyone thing there's a better da/sa choice that the MK25? To the novice eye that all look so similar it's kind of hard to denote the subtle differences sometimes.

Thanks,
Doug W.

First the MK25 is a FANTASTIC pistol. I don’t think you will be in anyway unhappy.

Second.
Would you be upset if I started a thread using your statement above as a title. It just amazes me how many folks these days see DA/SA as some Herculean/sword from the stone/effort and I just thought your statement would make for a great lead in.

If you are averse to me hijacking your statement just say so. No worries.

Chris

Great choice. I have 2 SIG pistols and DMK 25 is the 1st 1 while my M11-A1 is my current EDC (although a little heavy).

No... I don't mind if you utilize that statement. I put it in there because I've read enough threads basically condemning the DA/SA trigger. I have very specific reason(s) why I want it. What works for me... may not work for someone else. Big Grin

I guess I didn't know there were so many issues with having a DA/SA as a first gun. What exactly is the alleged drawback, besides a different weight pull on the first round if you don't cock the hammer?

There is no drawback if you train with it . I shoot DA/SA handguns every week and have no trouble with the DA trigger pull.

Seemingly it just takes more practice to adjust between the first and second pull on the trigger. I've been practicing with a P229 Airsoft and it too has all the nuances of the DA/SA triggers. Longer/harder first pull is quite a bit different than the second pull. The only place I really notice it is braced and sighting on a target. Seems like forever before it release. Then the second shot is sometimes right behind the first w/o aiming simply over-pulled on the second shot. Hence the need for practice/training until accounting for the differences are second nature.

My MK25 has been nothing but reliable. When I first got it, it came stock with the original grips and strut/seat. I found the trigger pull kind of heavy. I switched to the E2 grip and E2 strut/seat combo and what a difference it made. It lightened the trigger pull without changing the factory hammer spring and gave the gun a whole new feel. I might be one of the few that really likes the benefits of the E2 grip/pieces.

I bought one a few years back and am happy. but I did not like the factory grips that came with it... too fat. I prefer either G10 grips or E2s....

Yup... i may end up with e2 grips. Gonna run a few rounds through it to see how it feels. Joust gripping it in the store it didn't feel too bad.

I never liked the E2 grips. My shots would string.

I found the aluminum grips to be perfect. Locked in like gluing my hand to the Grip.

All personal preference.

I second that. I have a set for my P229 and love them. Though the G10s that come on the 226 Legion are pretty nice, I don't know if I'm going to change those out too.

What's the number(or whatever) to identify the aluminum grips?
