Trying to like the Glock 43. Bought a test pull and the trigger goes off at 8lbs. Normal?

Out of the box? Yeah, unfortunately, that seems to be about right, even with Glock's 'minus' connector installed. That's why I installed an Overwatcg Falx trigger in my G43. It's not substantially lighter, but it's a very short release with essentially no takeup. This is a trigger superior to the OEM trigger in the G43.

No, 8lbs is not normal for that pistol.
I can guarantee that you don't have the updated G43 Minus Connector in that gun.
You will have to disassemble to see the "Minus" mark on the connector.

The wife just bought a G43 Vickers Edition for $475
The Vickers Edition gets you a nice package of goodies and she only paid $25 over low retail.
The G43 trigger shoe sucks, so I put an Overwatch FALX in it.
It does not affect pull weight.
Just smooths out the shoe face and shortens reach.

I just checked her pull weight when I saw this thread.
It's 3lbs on a Lyman digital.

It was "normal" for mine, an the minus connector did not help appreciably.

I've heard this complaint/comment/question from quite a few G43 users.

I have never seen a G43 with a trigger pull weight of only 3 pounds regardless of components and certainly not an all OEM trigger. I have tried many Glocks with the same gauge you use.

Yes, with the minus connector- supposedly. I bought my G43 in 2015, before the minus connector as introduced for the slimline Glocks. Before installing this new part, the trigger pull was unpleasantly heavy. After installing it, the trigger pull was just a touch better. That's why I went to an aftermarket trigger.

My G43 was heavy and sucked, right out of the box. I ordered a ghost connector, put that in, and the little pistol behaved like a Glock and not a crayon cartoon drawing of a trigger made out of stone. A factory minus connector became available for the G43. I put that in, and the trigger improved more. I still have that in place. I swapped the trigger for an Overwatch Precision Falx, and presently I'm very happy with the trigger and the pistol in general. I've put quite a few thousand rounds through it. The trigger is easy to stage, has a nice break, and is just fine for me.

Then again, I also grease the hell out of my Glocks.

Before you spend the money on the Precision Overwatch, be aware that they use a stock Glock trigger bar. They offer them straight stock, or NP3 plated. There's not a thing different about that trigger bar contacting your connector than any other stock glock trigger bar. The difference will be found in the connector.

The trigger shoe is the reason that I picked up the Falx; it approximates the Glock trigger, but isn't serrated, and the trigger safety tab sits flush when depressed, so doesn't wear on the finger. the edges are rounded, and the trigger feels thinner, and is more comfortable. That's why I put it in.

I don't think I'd see much impact in trigger weight or smoothness by going to the Overwatch Precision trigger; it's just a trigger, after all. The connector makes a difference, as does ensuring that the contact between the firing pin safety and trigger bar is reduced of as much friction as possible, and that the plunger is smooth and polished.

If you don't have a Glock minus connector in there now, put one in. You might also consider a ghost connector

I just ordered two ghost pro connectors for the G43X and G48; the pro also includes an overtravel feature.

Both my 42 and 43 were at the 8# mark when I bought them.

The both currently have about the same mods, I just did some pulls with the digital Lyman and here's what I'm getting:

G42 (380)
Ghost connector
Overwatch trigger
reduced power safety plunger spring
stock firing pin spring
25 cent polish
current trigger pull = 4#8oz

G43 (9mm)
Ghost connector
Apex trigger
reduced power safety plunger spring
stock firing pin spring
25 cent polish
current trigger pull = 5#4oz

Mine was close to 7 lbs out of the box even with the OEM - connector which is supposed to achieve 5.5 lb pulls. I changed to Falx Overwatch trigger which of course didn't affect pull weight but improved reset and the "wall". I also changed out the connector for a Ghost edge, and did the .50 polish job. According to my little spring trigger weight gauge I'm right at 5 to 5.5 lbs. which is perfect for my needs.

Mine was HEAVY. Felt like a DA revolver. Put in a connector and it lightened it down to what I'm guessing around 7#.

Mine is 8 lbs also. I shoot it much better than my last carry gun. The 8 pound trigger does not bother me at all and it seems like a good trigger for a SD gun.

For what it’s worth, one of the first things I ever do with a new gun is check the trigger pull, but I looked at my spread sheet and I never did it for my G43, so just I got it out and did it. 8 lbs is much heavier than I thought it was. I was expecting 5 to 6 lbs.

All Glocks are Defensive Pistols. Glock just "screwed the pooch" on the slim frame pistols.

Mine had the older connector and it wasn't bad at all. I put a - connector in it and it got a little lighter. I had read a lot about their heavy triggers so I was surprised that it was one of the better Glock triggers I've came across. My G42's trigger is heavier though, around 8lbs.

The early Glock 43s had a heavy trigger pull. Around 7.5 pounds. After all the complaints they changed the connector. The trigger pull is now about the same as all other Glocks.
