Replied email. Looking at closed auctions on ebay looks like $30 or so. As I suggested post it for sale on the S&W forum, maybe you can reunite it with the gun that came in it. That serial number dates from 1973 to 1977. I would say closer to 1973 due to the low serial number.

ETA: I have two 34-1's, but they are newer than your box.
