I've used "second strike" on an auto pistol once, in a match. I think I was shocked that I even thought to try it. lol _____________________________________________________ Sliced bread, the greatest thing since the 1911.

As mentioned, most trained Semi Auto Shooters go right into thier imdediate action drill. But, I've noticed Novice shooters or those that learned/primarily use revolvers try for the second strike. I don't personally consider second strike as a criteria for selection of a pistol.

I like the ability for second strike Not being a LEO, or in a foreign country and in the military. The distance where a justifiable self defense would take place, would exclude an immediate action drill. Such that if the forearm doesn't have second strike, it's function becomes that of a brick and blunt force trauma would become it's duty. If at target, I would just prefer to give the round another chance rather than dropping it on the ground and then fishing around for it , just to deal with giving it another try sometime. Might as well deal with the round right then. If shooting at skunks etc. the sound of the first drop would have them running and very unlikely to get a second shot after doing a drill. {might have a slim chance if equip with second shot capability. I would never, as an ordinary citizen, expect distance and time allotted for a drill in a justifiable self defense distance.
