Don't know why, but I agreed to buy a Sig P250 from a guy.... will not back down since I made a commitment... but I have no knowledge of this pistol other than what Wikipedia says.

Some people love the trigger, some hate it. It does take some getting used to. Mine never had so much as a hiccup.

I have the compact and two subs. One of my favorite guns. The compact is an older model that takes old style mags, which is something to watch out for. I have half a dozen old style mags and a bunch of longer ones. The longer mags are not affected.

If you come from the revolver age, you will love the trigger.

I think this is where SIG screwed up. The takeup could have been less, as well as the reset. Travel is a bit longer and could have been shortened with a slight increase in pull weight.

There was one smith who was doing such mods, but it was not financially rewarding to continue the work.

I have a 45C and also run the 40SC and 22LR kits. I have two 320's but the 250 isn't going anywhere.

best $400 pistol I have. Love the DA trigger . Uses the mags and holster from the P320C I got rid of. I do not care for Striker fired or polymer pistols, but the 250C carries well and fits in the glove box or tool box or backpack well and operates flawlessly. this would be a great safe pistol for a first time shooter.

I have a subcompact 9mm P250. Also have a compact 9mm P320 with medium grip module that is identical that that of the compact P250.

If you are looking for a hammer-fired double action only pistol, the P250 is a good one IMO. But I agree entirely with exfed2001. I would like the pistol even more if the trigger broke with just a little less travel, even accepting that this would have increased the pull weight some.

Many hate the P250. Part of this is a result of the way SIG botched the roll out of this pistol. The first generation P250s had reliability issues that resulted in them being dropped by the few law enforcement agencies that adopted them. But I think a large degree of the dislike is a result of people who had no notion of what a DAO hammer-fired handgun was all about buying this pistol and then carping about the long trigger pull.

Speed shooters are not going to like this pistol. The long trigger pull and correspondingly long reset slows them down too much. Double action triggers do require a bit more practice to shoot accurately, although if you have experience with DA/SA pistols, or double action revolvers you should feel comfortable with the P250. The trigger pull, while long, is quite smooth and not too heavy.

One very legitimate gripe about the P250 is the proprietary design of the rear sight which is not dovetailed. This means that it cannot be drifted for windage (the front sight can) and you are pretty much stuck using SIG OEM rear sights. Changing the rear sight requires partially disassembling the slide.

I currently have the 250 sub compact. Great gun. I feel that these are better suited for defensive guns then competition shooting.

The trigger is very similar in feel to a Kahr, but better. Less travel and feels better with double strike capabilities. Yes the reset is almost full out but in defensive situations I'm more worried about accuracy than speed and I can still double tap fairly quickly with it.

I purchased the compact exchange kit, but am waiting on a new slide release assembly since my sub compact was the older design.

I fall into the group of preferring hammer fire over striker even though I shoot striker guns better. It's just a matter of practice.

Once you feel the trigger I don't think you will be disappointed.

I fall into the dinosaur category of revolver user so the P250 is a quick study. It can slow you down a little, trigger wise. But not too long ago, my ancient ass and a 250 won a speed shooting contest over a group of Glock armed cops. Who prior to the shoot, laughed and laughed at my 250.
I have managed to buy 3 of them. All for under $400. One is an SC 9mm with a compact kit. My current carry is the .45 P250. 10 rounds of 45 in a nice compact form. Easy and safe admin handling too. My only bitch is the odd rear sight.
So shoot the thing. You may find the DAO to be a good thing.

I own P250sc's in 9mm and .40 S&W.

I have a P250c in 9mm and recently sold the P250f in .45 a.c.p. I replaced the .45 with a SP2022 9mm, which I gave my son.

I like hammer fired DAO pistols and took to the P250's real quick. My P250c is now in a FDE grip module and lives in this case.

I wish it were possible to get grip modules without the rail in all three frame sizes and widths.

I have one P250 FCU and two SC conversions; .380 and 9mm. .380 has nites and is usually on nightstand duty. But, I found a 9mm SC and the FCU is installed on that now. I really like them and trust my life with the .380 - 9mm is still unfired. Going against the grain here - I will prolly order an FDE SC grip module with the rail - since my CT-201 laser fits and looks so much better on the 250/320 rail versus my VP9SK...

I picked up a NIB P250 Compact for $375 and got in on the free 2 mag and nylon bag. I got it for my wife, who carried a J-Frame for years. This was a good upgrade going from 5 x 38spl to 13 9mm with the simplicity of no safety, but a long trigger pull.

As on of the guys in the old Sig Pro Shop said to me: “It’s a good gun IF you can get passed the whole DAO thing.”

As I refined my opinions about firearms, and specifically defensive carry firearms, I discovered that the P250 compact and sub compact fit my needs for a defensive firearm perfectly. They both carry nicely. They’re simple and safe,(and I can hand it to my wife without instructions or special cautions... you KNOW when you’re pulling the trigger).

I had a single P250C in 9mm for quite a while. But when Sig stopped making them, I rushed out to pick up extras. I now have 2 compacts and 2 subcompacts.

Sig definitely screwed themselves by how this pistol was rolled-out and subsequently supported and marketed. The famously failed trial by the FAMs were probably *the* thing that did them in. If Sig had made a big show of revising the pistol and could get agencies/departments to reconsider them, the outcome might have been different.

No matter now... all that R&D and investment resulted in the P320. That’s not a pistol for me, personally, but clearly a major success for Sig.

ETA: As pblanc said, the unique rear sight is a serious drawback.

Thanks for the responses,

I've been collecting semi-auto Rugers for a while and last year decided to change and try out a Sig. With that I went basic with a P226. I did carry a Sig P230 for years but then stepped up to 9mm with a Ruger LCPs... after a while I started rethinking the super light striker fired... trigger and did some research and chose a Sig P290... I like the little pistol but the grip is just too short and skinny..... So, now we'll see what this 250 is like I guess. ....

The 250's are {alas, were...} awesome pistols. I had 5 and I still have two I'm keeping. A 9mm SC and a .45 FS.

Great pistols!

I have a p250sc in .45. I can understand why the trigger isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. Very much like a Kahr trigger with long smooth pull and predictable break. I shoot it as well as my p220 and p239 Sigs in SA. I'm going to buy another one in 9mm.

Several of us have moaned about the non standard rear sight on the Sig P250. Would it be worthwhile to design a plug for the slide to fill in the rear sight hole? The plug would need to be cut for a standard sight.

I’d be in if that was possible.

That would be a plus.
