OK so I have a Nelson 22 conversion coming by the end of the week Plan on putting it on a 1st generation Kimber frame. Has the tighter chamber and I'm planning using CCI SV to start out. Any of you members shooting one of these have any suggestions or tips to share before I put it on and shoot it? Thanks, Greg

I have one with the top rail and red dot, and one smooth top with iron sights. They are excellent trainers and stand on their own as moderate bullseye pistols. As a trainer, I use mine to practice fundamental marksmanship that focuses on accuracy. For more practical training, I like using them to practice shooting on the move, shooting a steel target. The lack of recoil makes most other practical shooting training a compromise. Steel Challenge with the conversion kit is one of my favorite shooting activities. Expensive, but a bargain for what you get.
Will post an update when I get a chance to use it. Due to arrive today USPS. Probably won't get it until 7 or 8 tonight. We don't have a regular carrier so our mail gets delivered by someone after they get their route done.

I have three Marvel 22lr units, and have at least 5k rounds total through all three. I only shoot sub sconic ammo through my conversions, and have found the 23# mainspring to bee too strong for reliable operation. I run 18# mainsprings in all my target 1911's, and that weight functions 100% with every brand of 22lr I've tried. This message has been edited. Last edited by: SgtGold,

Have finally got to shoot it. Really like it but its taking me awhile to get used to shooting a 1911 after so long.
Going to check mainspring rating and possibly switch to something lower as long as I can maintain reliability with centerfire ammo. The unit is very well made and weighs as much as its 45 acp counterpart.
Needing to experiment with the 3 recoil springs supplied to fine tune ammo choices and it has been functioning well with their 8 lb spring (middle wt. choice) and CCI SV ammo.
Also have any of you used the Ultradot LT red dot sight? Looking for experiences and opinions of those who have used them. I shot a friends Buckmark recently thats equiped with the LT and really liked the size of the sighting window. This message has been edited. Last edited by: McGregor,

I have a Nelson kit on a Springfield Range Officer lower. I love it. My only advice is to keep your chamber clean or you might have some extraction issues.
Not sure if it would. The best way to check may be to call and talk to Larry Nelson, he was very helpful when I had questions about the chamber and ammunition.
