P320rx Light Login/Join

Hello, new to the Sig family as I am waiting for my first Sig that should be here any day at my FFL. I am awaiting my full size P320rx and have a question. I researched a whole lot of things about the firearm and want to add the Apex trigger and a rail light. I was looking at the mini ollight as it is rechargeable and does not look gaudy. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding a light? I am looking for a light that is streamlined and looks good. I also plan to replace the grip module in the sand color as I am retired military. I believe I need to order a full size module with a medium grip. Thanks,
Rich

Welcome to the forum

You’d be well served by either a Surefire x300 or a Streamlight TLR1. I’ve gone to TLRs on my full size pistols due to the momentary activation by pushing the lever down instead of pushing in like the SF. Plus, Streamlight is less expensive. I do have x300s on several ARs.

Good luck with your search and I hope you enjoy the community here.

I think the Inforce APLc is perfect for the 320.

I have to make the comment that putting a light on a gun (short or small) has the definite potential of breaking one of the cardinal gun rules. I personally would never do it.

I also agree & add if outside your residence, even if only on your porch, pointing the gun mounted light at someone can get you arrested for a felony called aggravated assault.

Yeah, all those thousands of police officers out there, "breaking a cardinal rule". They must be really clueless. Maybe they need some training, or maybe we just need to preach at them about "rules".

You don't suddenly grow an extra hand when things go bump in the night- pistol, flashlight, phone, opening doorknobs, ushering your children- all these things require hands. Myself, I have only two. How many do you have?

And BTW, you do not need to point your pistol directly at something to illuminate it. I can illuminated an entire room in my home, by pointing my pistol in any direction. This stuff about having to point your pistol directly to illuminate with a WML is a misconception by people who don't use WMLs.

This is an old pic I stole from the internet, but it gives a good visual representation of "spill".

You can illuminate something and not have your weapon and WML pointed at it...

Concerns about gun safety and WMLs can be resolved with a bit of training and practice.

Those that preach about the dangers of WMLs tend to have zero experience with them.

Yes, there are times when it's best to use a WML and times when it's best to use a handheld light. But you can safely utilize a WML for much more than many people think.

Personally, I use a TLR-1HL on my P320 Carry. It's the light that I prefer and that I'm used to using, since I've used TLR-1s on my personal and duty guns for a decade or so. It's well-proven, and it's one of the most common and widely-used lights, so there's a wide variety of compatible holsters available.

The main downside is that the TLR-1s are a bit bigger than the latest generation of more compact (but less common/proven) weaponlights.

Here's how it would look on a Full Size P320RX like the OP's:

And, guess what? On the off chance that I actually need a separate flashlight, I can remove the Surefire X-300 from my pistol in about three seconds without putting any part of my hand in front of the muzzle.

Why I would feel compelled to do such a thing, I don't know, but if I needed a separate flashlight, it's right there when I pick up my pistol.

And you do have to point it at [I] something [/]. My experience and observation is that it is seldomly pointed straight at the ground while searching a building or area. Might as well have a light slaved to it.
