Magazines-- Approx. year of manufacture? Login/Join

I have two new (to me) P226 12 rd., .40 & .357 mags.

One is a MecGar with polished blue, straight floor plate and a grey Parkerized(?) body. The SIG Sauer logo is a good 2" above the floor plate.

The second has flat black finish on body and floor plate. It's marked "MADE IN USA" and the indented floor plate is marked "U.S. PATENT 6,055,758". The Sig Sauer logo is located just above the floor plate.

I believe both are ex LEO mags, but neither bears the "RESTRICTED LAW ENFORCEMENT" statement.

Can anyone tell me the approx. year (range) of manufacture for these?

Thanks in advance!
Jon

Not really sure, but the earliest of these magazines has .357 Sig stamped on the side, but not .40.

Are either of yours marked with the caliber?

The LE restricted marking is present only during the AWB era (Sept 1994 - Sept 2004). Mags before and after have none, and you cannot distinguish them from civilians mags, except in commie states that have capacity restriction. But, there is a way to narrow down some. Before the AWB, P226 mags were full capacity German dovetail back ones. After the AWB sunset, you also see full capacity Mec-Gar (Italy), and later on, US made Checkmate mags.
Since the P226 mags never had date clocks on the bases, there is no way to narrow down to a specific year, unless you bought the gun NIB.

Only thing certain would be that they were manufactured after September 2004.

The P226 .40cal/.357Sig was not released until after the Clinton Gun Ban went into effect in September 1994.
