I got a small victory this week. I snagged a almost NIB P232 with original case, papers, new parts kit and 5 magazines for $700. Maybe a bargain maybe not. The manufacture date is 4/13/12 according to the case and matching serial number. I have an older P232 without the night sights and the SL mark on the slide. I don’t shoot it much but there just is something about the P232 that I really like. Maybe due to smaller hands and a nod to a different times. I believe Sig will replace the night sights for me but I am seriously thinking about just having the regular contract rear sight installed and painting the front sight. I have conflicting thoughts about just leaving it the way it is, or having the sights replaced by Sig, or just replacing the rear with a normal contrast sight. Help nudge me one way or another. My likely bump in the night pistol is a P365 in .380 if that need should arise. Otherwise a Smith model 64 takes its place in the nightstand. As I said, any nudges one way or another is most appreciated. Jeff

That is my spot. |
Considering that original mags are $50 or more on ebay, I think you did well. The 232 SL is one of my son's favorites and we have 2 mags left after my Father in law borrowed it and lost 3. Luckily, I bought all the guts and floorplates to rebuild 4 mags from the internetwebs a few years back. Have fun! Can't help with the sights. I have no preference except that the shape of them is nice for accuracy if not a bit hard to pick up quickly. ***************** Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. - Ben Franklin

The bottom line, as always, is to go with what you shoot best. If you have no preference, go original.

Congrats, for an "as new" 232 with 5 mags you did really well at that price. I'd leave those sights just as they are and post a pic when you can.

Congrats on you new addition. If it were me, I'd go with the available sights that I prefer and not worry about anything else. -MG

keep it as is, shoot it, then decide if you want new sights. BTW - I was thinking about sending a 226 to sig to have them install new night sights and I seem to remember they do not install them on the 232 model. you should check their site.

Is your P232 blued or stainless? No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I just picked up a P232 Stainless with 4 mags for $625. Always wanted a P232. Mine came with the hogue style grips. Bought the original plastic grips at Gunparts. Love the way the plastic stippled grips feel.

The 232 is stainless. Yes, I need to post a picture. Also I forgot it came with a Sig holster. It is a paddle holster with a retention button and a place for an extra magazine. In my gut I fear somebody had this pistol with extra bits and pieces and for whatever reason sold it to a shop. I doubt the person who ultimately sold the P232 got much more than $400 bucks for it selling it to a store. At least I will care for it like the person before me. It really is in nice condition. I went through some of that when my father in law passed and his wife sold some nice things to stores at 60% of their face to face value. She just wanted to get the things out of the house and unfortunately my father in law did not ask my wife what things she wanted. He would have made her pay for them. I never will do something like that with my girls. I have two of most things to give them at some point. It is what it is. I know the P232 does not really compare to the new whiz stuff. Just like my M1 really cannot compete against AR’s when I shoot service rifle competitions. At the same time there just is something grounding in using that steel and wood firearm. More so when “kids” cannot understand how I shoot so much better than they do with the new toys. For me there just is something special with the classic Sig pistols. Of course my P365 in .380 will someday perhaps be a classic Sig pistol for someone my age. Given the world and country I hope that will indeed be the case.

Mine looks essentially the same. The case is the same. Just 5 mags instead of 4 coupled with the parts kit and holster.

Congratulations. I have a KD dated P230SL picked up years ago from a retired LEO and I have the hogue G10 Checkered grips on it . Prettiest Sig in the fleet would be one of the last pistols I would part with. This should have been the Bond Gun..... IT is still in the carry rotation because it conceals so well and its a great point and shoot pistol.

Yes, those grips are much better than the originals for sure.... you paid for what you wanted and got it... no fault there.... I'd bet the store paid less than $400 for it, but who knows... and I don't fault them one bit. Seems most folks don't have a clue what it cost to run a business. I purchased the two tone version of 232SL new many years ago. Stainless slide with alloy lower. Last week I came across the Stainless version in LNIB condition. Orig blue box, mags, hang tag and manual. Asking was $750. I thought it a fair price.

It's all part of the adventure... |
Well done! The P232 (and 230) are beautiful IMHO. Regards From Sunny Tucson, SigFan NRA Life - IDPA - USCCA - GOA - JPFO - ACLDN - SAF - AZCDL - ASA "Faith isn't believing that God can; it's knowing that He will." (From a sign on a church in Nicholasville, Kentucky)

I had a 232 SL years ago but had to let it go because no matter what I did I could not shoot it with out loosing chunks of skin. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. I've never had a problem with that, I guess it has to do with hand size... Now a Walther PPK is a different story.... that little puppy loved to trim me a bit. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

Hogue rubber grips fixed that problem for the wife and I.
