Desirable? What if they have the round indicator that sticks up in the middle of the barrel when loaded, the lci like the M17 has? If you have one how does it shoot on compact X module or Carry module? Thinking about getting one just wonder about muzzle flip and ease of carry. Not much longer than my 365. Thanks for the information. "Buzzards got to eat, same as worms"

The compact and carry barrels are the same barrel, same slide. There are variations, but same basic slide and barrel, and they'll fit on carry or compact frames. The difference bewteen a compact and a carry is that the carry frame takes the 17 round magazine, and the compact, a 15 round magazine. Sig has muddied the waters with their naming conventions, but that's the only real difference. They do have the x-compact, which is actually a sub compact on a compact frame. The x-compact features a plate for mounting an optic. I don't know about "muzzle flip," but they're very controllable, very easy to shoot pistols, and if you're comfortable handling and shooting the P365, you'll be very comfortable with the trigger and handling of the P320. There are several grip modules available. The traditional oval P320 grip was great. The x-grip series that came out were really great. The Wilson grip modules are excellent. Grayguns "sculpts" the x-grip modules and those feel great in the hand and won't go anywhere when you're shooting them. Just enough grip, but still carries fine without grabbing clothing or rubbing you raw. Gets positive comments, too, if that matters. Anything grayguns does to the P320, and any parts made for it, are a plus, and you won't go wrong. You didn't ask, but I use them on all my P320's, and have zero complaints. I don't think any of my P320's have a loaded chamber indicator. I don't think it's necessary, but it probably won't hurt anything, either. I liked the P320 compacts enough that I bought them and gave them to all my kids. My next project, after a suppressed Ruger 22/45, is a P320 on a full-size TXG grip module, compact slide with a compensator. Just because it will bug me until I try it. Then a compensated P365, for the same reason. The Compact/Carry barrels are 3.9". The subcompact barrel is 3.6". The X-compact is a subcompact slide and barrel.

Thanks for your reply. I have a M17 and Carry model that I like already. Used to the 320. I got the True threaded barrel and Griffith small compensator on my 365 and really like it. "Buzzards got to eat, same as worms"

Somewhat embarrassingly (and annoyingly), I purchased my P320 XCompact on the assumption that because it had “Compact” in its name, it would, well …, have the 3.9" Compact slide and barrel.* I have fired the XC only about 150 rounds, but there’s really nothing remarkable to say about it. Other than its slightly shorter sight radius than the “real” Compact and which I’m not aware of when shooting, it’s the same gun. For that matter I don’t notice any difference in handling than when shooting my full size 9mm. As I reviewed here I don’t find even the smallest P365 difficult to shoot, so I wasn’t surprised to find nothing unusual about the XCompact. Because the XCompact’s grip is the same size as the Compact’s and only slightly shorter than the Carry’s module, the XC doesn’t conceal much better than that model—except, perhaps, for appendix carry with its slightly shorter barrel. It seems to me that if someone wants a gun that’s truly smaller than the other P320 models, he should rely on one of the many varieties of the superb P365. * I can only wonder if the XCompact was conceived as a way of making use of a bunch of otherwise useless subcompact parts after that model was discontinued. ► 6.4/93.6 “The Marxist binary: victims and victimizers.” — Victor Davis Hanson

The Carry Module (and X-Carry module) are designed for use with the Compact/Carry slides with 3.9" barrels. The special X-Compact slide with 3.6" barrel will technically fit and function on those grip modules, but will look funny, since the grip's railed dust cover will protrude past the muzzle for 0.3". Similar to this image of a 3.6" slide installed on a 4.7" Full Size grip... It installs, and technically shoots, but looks really weird: ![]() Instead, these 3.6" barreled X-Compact slides are intended for use with either the X-Compact grip modules or the discontinued Subcompact grip modules, either of which will have an appropriate length rail/dust cover for the 3.6" barreled slide.
That was likely one factor. But "mullet guns" like that have been offered for years from a number of manufacturers. So it's obviously not the only factor. ![]()

I have a subcompact and like it. Is my backup gun for work...it lives on my ankle and will accept the 17 round mags for my duty gun if necessary. It shoots just fine...not much noticable difference from my P320 carry, but it's a little less size and weight in the ankle. As to the idiotic LCI, I won't own a gun with one. It's pointless in the P320...a quick glance through the side of the ejection port around the barrel hood will allow you to see if it's loaded or not, and it's just superfluous parts and complexity. I've also heard they like to leak soot and crud onto the front glass of slide-mounted optics. I don't own any, but their very existence annoys me because I have to be careful when I'm ordering barrels to make sure they don't have that cut.
