Lipsey’s announces 2 more S&W Mountain Guns.
Now a 610 in 10mm and a 10 shot 617 Mountain Guns! Both with out locks and come with a 1 piece barrel.

The 610 doesn’t do anything for me that my smaller Ruger GP100 Wiley Clapp model doesn’t already do but it’s cool and I want one!

A 4” no lock 617 with a 10 shot steel cylinder was my grail gun for years. Finally found one by accident when I first moved to Alaska and I bought it. Come to find out they only made the no lock version for 18 months, no wonder I couldn’t find one. I already have 2 K-frame .22’s and don’t need another but it’s cool and I want one!

I also spent years on the lookout for a no-lock 617. Finally Colt beat S&W to the punch with the King Cobra .22. Only last month I bought two of them. Now I have no need whatsoever for one of these Lipsey 617 Mountain Guns—but I’m going to buy one anyway as soon as I can find one.

Very glad to see the MG line growing.

My personal MG wish-list would include an 8-shot .357 N-Frame and a 6-shot .45 ACP / .45 Auto Rim N-frame.

Alas, we shall see.

This is great, but I am not paying that much for a 22. I love they are rebooting the classics, but I can still find originals for cheaper.

That 10mm is pretty sweet.

I like what they're doing, but I've yet to see a 629 or 686 Mountain Gun in person. With the QC issues I've seen posted on various sites, I'm not going to buy one sight unseen.

I REALLY hope they get these dialed in on QC and more available.

Same. And I've been looking.

I'm number 1 on the waiting list with my LGS for a 686 and nothin'. Did find one on Gunbroker the other day with a reasonable, "Buy it Now" price. Tempted but decided to wait until I can actually handle one and inspect it before I commit the plastic.

I just told my self I was done buying. But I have always had a 10mm sickness. The 610 MG is definitely one I will need to handle

Msrp on this new 617 is ~$1200. After a while Street price will be less. If you can find an 4 inch no lock, 10 shot, 617 for under that price grab it and let me know. In 20+ years of casual looking I have seen 1 offered for sale and the price was well above $1200. I finally caved and bought a version with a lock and full lug barrel 4 inch. Unfortunately my only S&W with a lock.

Same with no lock 4 inch 610. They made some in the 90’s the asking price on used samples is always pretty impressive. They are just quite difficult to find in the wild. Again specifically I’m talking about the 4 inch no lock versions. Lock versions and the ones with sleeved barrels are available.

I'm hoping for a 625 Mountain Gun in 45 ACP.

Sadly it’s not out of line for a steel framed double action .22 revolver. Street prices for a Ruger 8 shot SP101 is $800, $900 for the 10 shot GP100 and the 10 shot Colt King Cobra is $1k.

Even used, Smith 17 prices start around $700 and rapidly go up from there depending on condition and variations. I have a 6” full lug blued 6 shot with factory target smooth wood grips that I wouldn’t let go for less than $1,200.

Sadly the days of a reasonably priced .22 revolver seem to be gone. The only thing I can think of now is the Ruger Wrangler and I’d rather pay the extra money for the better fit and finish of the Single Six.

^ Agreed. My son had a Wrangler, and it had accuracy issues and also felt like a toy compared to my Single-Six. Especially when you can often find used Single-Sixes for not much more than a Wrangler, the choice is pretty easy.

I get that it feels ridiculous to spend a lot on a .22, but if I'm honest my .22 revolvers are some of the most practical guns I own, and I've had more real-life use out of them killing nuisance critters than any of my centerfire guns. It's also nice to have a high-quality .22 copy of my centerfire revolvers for training that handles similarly, especially during ammo shortages. My Smith Model 63 is one of the top-ten go-to handguns in my safe.

I wish they'd do a K-frame Mountain Gun in .22 Magnum.

Thank you. That 610 actually has the wheels in my head turning a bit. I don’t really have a need for a 10mm but it might get me back into .40 again. I rarely shoot my .40 Semi autos anymore.

That would be way cool. If they could figure a way to do .45 Colt and .45 ACP that would be even better.

I do love the Mountain Guns. I wish Lipsey’s would resurrect the Night Guard series. The 386 and 310 versions sell for absolute insane prices now.

Yeah. Of the current offerings I want the .44, but I don't really need it. I'm kinda glad I haven't found one yet as it prevents me from having to make decisions. But a .45ACP/.45 Colt Combo would be a "drop everything and buy it now!" situation. I don't see why they couldn't do it...Ruger did it with the Redhawk. The 625 MG is just a nicer, more practical gun.
