Ruger P89, reliable. Mine has over 400,000 miles. Will do double duty as a boat anchor (heavy).

Frequent Denizen of the Twilight Zone |
There is a saying in networking, Cheap, Fast, Reliable, pick two. I think the same may apply to guns depending on how cheap is cheap.

Fighting the good fight |
Not necessarily. Products may be cheap due to reasons besides merely lack of quality. For example, the glut of .40 caliber police trade-in Glocks and M&Ps lately. They're quality guns, but they're currently cheap ($250-$300) due to high supply and low demand, coupled with the fact that distributors get them for pennies on the dollar when agencies trade them in for new guns.

Big Stack |
Smith SD9 or 40VE. A standout in the cheap gun market G19 sized, stainless slide. The get associated with the long dead Sigma line, but AFAIK its a different design with a different trigger. Not a bullseye gun but the trigger's good enough. If you want better, it can be Apexed for not much money. If you want t a cheap defensive gun, you need to at least look at these. Get my pies outta the oven! |
You are reading "cheap" as in "flimsy" when the OP means "inexpensive". You can have inexpensive guns that aren't flimsy.

Hmmm... I would look for a used two tone 2022. May bust your $300 price though. End of Earth: 2 Miles Upper Peninsula: 4 Miles
