Hello all,

I recently purchased a couple of E2 grips for my P228s/P229s. After putting them on my P229 with only minor difficulty, I immediately found that this gun pointed downward significantly in comparison to the original grips. The front sight completely disappeared below the rear sight when pointing my gun naturally. I have no such issue with Nill's and Hogue rubber grips.

Needless to say, these E2 grips will be showing up in the Classified section in the near future.

Back about four or five years ago, I purchased a P224 SAS that came with E2 grips. I rather liked them for that pistol. Good purchase on the small frame, pointed well for me, and fine accuracy out of a somewhat maligned Sig. I sought some advice from the Forum about buying E2s for other Sigs, and was warned off - they shift around on the frame, the pointing issue you are experiencing, etc. Hogues work much better.

It's easy to see why the pointing is kind of un-natural with the E2 grip, because its back profile is quite different (flat) from that of the 2-panel grips (curved, with flared out bottom).

Also not a fan of E2 grips. Get nasty with range use and difficult to clean to my satisfaction. I will pass by anything that has them. Some guns you can replace them on and some you can't.

A few years back I took a Shooting Course titled Pistol Red Dots at the Police Academy that was Sponsored by Trijicon.

The instructor opened the hatch to his 4Runner and there were Glock, SW and Sig pistols to choose from. Well me being me and not wanting to break out of my comfort zone I choose the Sig P229 in .40 and 9mm with an E2 grip.

I was always interested in trying an E2 grip but on a P226. I thought what the heck.

What a disaster and a miserable day. I am glad other people had trouble with the grip and had gun pointed downward. I thought it was just me.

I wish I would have chosen the SW MP9 or MP40. I still want to try the E2 on the P226 but never again on a P229.

A different POV: since neither the standard profile P-grip or the E² grip are deemed 'natural' in pointing for me (I have Glock hands), I found that the E² was a bit more ergonomic and comfortable in the remaining 'metrics', for lack of a better term. I like the profile better on the compact P229 than the P226 however; for me it's too spindly and small on the fullsize even saddled with my kid-size paws. Just Feels Weird. Since my alloy SIGs are only range guns and casual ones at that, the only type of shooting ever done was slowish paced bull's-eye kind of stuff; no rapid fire drills and such. With that in mind I didn't notice much accuracy difference for myself. YMMV of course.

However in the end all of my P229s and my P228 wear traditional 2-pc grip panels. My biggest complaint with my two "trial" E² grips were with poor fit; I suppose I could've put some heat to the P229 version and squeezed it a bit so the ends wouldn't stand off of the frame, but it was much easier to just sell the things off to someone else who might have better luck with them.

I like the E2 grips as they seem very similar to the grips found on the Browning P35 ("Highpower"). To me, it's funny how many folks accept the "perfection" of Glock grip design, but have an issue with these. YMMV!

To each their own, but it is the most despised grip I've ever felt. I purchased a 229 E2 from a forum member shortly aftre they came out. My experience is very similar to what you described. I promptly put on a set of crimson trace grips that remedied the problem. Eventually traded the gun for an H&K P30 and didn't regret it for a minute.

I have small hands. I had the grip installed on my 229 and I like it.

I liked them on my P229, so I also put them on my M11A1. No regrets.

I really like the e2 grip while holding it and pointing. It feels great until I shoot it. Then I don’t like it. Seems too small

You know, you probably have wrists that are capable of tipping the front of the gun up and down, right????

I really like E2 grips for shooting, but they are too aggressive for carry. My favorite are Aluminium and G10 grips.

They are quite abrasive, when carrying concealed, but it's not a bad tradeoff.

Was never attracted to them on any other model, but they do seem to work nicely on the P227 once I swapped the "skinny" trigger for a slightly fatter one.

They point ok for me, but I had a couple of sets that would shift or move slightly when I gripped the gun. Not enough to affect performance, but it was annoying.

That's the funny thing about those grips, you either love or hate them, really no middle ground. I personally love them. I like the texture that was designed for them, as it is grippy without being too much. They are harder to clean and take off/on the pistol but worth it to me.

I have to say where it really shines, is with the different frame parts. I had a discussion here on the forum a while back about a MK25 I have and deciding about how to make the trigger pull weight less without really changing out the spring weights. The E2 hammer strut and spring seat really change the pull. To me it is much smoother and lighter. The E2 grips feel more ergonomical to me than the original grips.

When i bought my 226 several years ago it came with the E2's,never really felt comfortable in my hand,eventually i purchased green Sig two piece off of Ebay,have never went back.

One of my 224s had E2 grips. Replaced ASAP
