P225/P210 Floor Plate Mod
I seem to recall a thread on here where someone was offering shorter floor-plates for the original P225. I also remember it being said (in a separate thread) that P225 floor-plates can be installed on German P210 mags to make them seat in old heel-release Swiss P210s.

With all of that in mind, has anyone ever tried using the factory P210 Legend floor-plate on a P225 magazine? I’m curious how the curves line up (if at all).

Yeah. I remember him vaguely. His name was Davis something or other. Did good work on the P225 floor plates.

Thanks, guys. Maybe I put too much background in the OP. I’m not trying to track down bdavis (unless he has the answer to my main question). The main reason I brought him up is because his floor-plates were an ergonomic improvement; seeing as how his modification was relatively popular (at least on this forum), I figured that there is probably a fair number of P225 enthusiasts that dislike the long “lip” on the factory P225 floor-plate.

Going off of that, what I am actually curious about is that last part in OP: Since P210 and P225 floor-plates are interchangeable, I wonder if anyone has achieved an ergonomic improvement on the P225 by using the contoured forged steel floor-plate from the P210 Legend magazine.

Basically I just need anyone who owns both a P210 Legend and a classic P225 to do a little experiment. Smile

Not that the p6/225 needs any improvement, but I have big hands and I think it helps. I would change all my p6 mags if these plates were readily available.

Thanks for trying it out! So it’s just slightly off.

Visually, I guess. Felt good in the hand. I’m not aware of a better alternative?

I can’t think of a better alternative either, short of grinding down the front strap of the P225 to match. Eek

I always thought that Mec-Gar could have made a 9-round magazine with a contour-matching extension (or just a flush block like the modern P220 magazine). Sadly, it was never popular enough for that.

Keep in mind the forward lip of the 225 magazine plate is there so you have something to grasp if you need to strip a stuck mag, like in a double-feed malfunction.

Brad Davis sells the shorter P6/P225 baseplates. As far as I know he’s still offering them and I think his handle is bdavis here.

No idea if they work with a P210.
