What happened to these? I am talking about the original ones with the NSW serial numbers? There used to be frequent mention of them, WTB ads and the very occasional WTS ad.

Now I haven't heard anything about them in a couple of years.

Are they not a hot collectible anymore?

I’ve seen a few for sale the last year or so. If I recall pricing was $700 - $1,200 depending on condition and accessories. I doubt they’ll every be true collectors pieces.

They still pop up from time to time in the classified section. They're still collectible and a NIB NSW 226 definitely commands a premium.

Although I still personally have an interest in them, they have been on the market for some time and released over a decade ago and so I think it is a combination of many gun owners not knowing about them, especially younger ones, and also the fact that there are more recent guns that grab the attention of the gun buying public.

Also, once the NSW announced that they were switching away from SIGs to Glocks I think that further eroded the interest in this gun.

They do still occasionally show up for sale, although not often.

I was actually recently debating whether or not to start a similar thread to see how many forum members own the NSW's.

I own one. Actually took it to the range two days ago.

The interest in NSW's also dropped once SIG started making a "Navy" version full time. One of the appeals of the NSW campaign was its "once in a lifetime, limited run!" status. While SIG super enthusiasts will know the difference, the vast, vast majority of the gun purchasing public will not

The launch of the Legion series also cannibalized part of the interest in the Mk25.

The further away one gets, the more likely it is to overlook or even forget. That said, enough time has lapsed that the P226 Navy has become a collectable that doesn't get traded off like most any other P226. We rarely if ever see a Navy offered, but we see plenty of owners of other P226s--including the Mk25--inquiring as to how much trade or sale value there is with their guns.
