So I have a 365 that I have put less than 500 rounds through. It’s a nice pistol and it came with the 12 round mags (3). Since I didn't like the way it felt with the extension, I decided to get an XL grip module and replace the base plates to fit flush. Much better feel in the hand. My only grip is how snappy the 365 is, which is to be expected considering the size and weight. If I were to sell what I have, what other sig would be recommend as a carry weapon that I also might find more pleasant to shoot at the range? Thanks in advance.

Get the classic metal SIGs, like the P228 or P229.

If you are a reasonably good shot and don't need to "spray and pray" to hit a potential adversary, I'd suggest a P239 chambered in .357 SIG.

Agreement with 12131. It is hard to beat a classic P series Sig in any caliber or platform!.

I also agree with the P239, but in 9mm, since the P365 seems snappy to him. The weight of the P239 in 9 would negate that, hopefully. The .357 would only increase in snappiness compared to 9.

SigPro SP2022/2009/2340?
Probably split the budget gap between the already bought & the the classic P-series.

The classic P225 / P6 would be my choice.

I agree.
Even though I have smaller handguns, I still carry my P225 occasionally.
It just feels so good in the hand.
The recoil is very manageable.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely gives me something to consider. One of my favorite guns is my shield in 45ACP. Maybe the grip and somewhat larger size makes it more enjoyable to shoot. It’s just a little cumbersome for EDC.

The venn diagram of " carry weapon" and " more pleasant to shoot at the range" may not have a lot of overlap. The p228 may be one of the best pistols SIG ever made and it would be fate to cross paths with one. A pistol that would serve both duties for sure with the added weight. I've never shot the 365 but I would encourage you to keep at it and work on strength. That said, the p220 is required and could be carried, absolutely a blast at the range and with a 22lr conversion kit is a plus. ymmv. Welcome to SF.

I also found the 365 9mm too snappy for me but now I have the 365-380 Micro Compact. I now have 1300 rounds through it and like it a lot.

I don’t particularly think of myself as being strong in the hands but I use the Sig 115gr v crown in my P365Xl. It doesn’t seem snappy to me even compared to a P226 shooting a slower ammo.

I'm in the camp with the other responders recommending the "classic" gen 1 P-225/P-6. Can't remember any complaints re the grip not accommodating a wide range of hand sizes and a good choice of standard pressure 9mm ammo you shouldn't have any problem with recoil. #2 on the list would be the P-228, double stack 13rd mag will make the grip wider something to consider otherwise very close to dimensions of the P-225/P-6. As you can imagine both models very much in demand and when good examples show up they don't sit for long.

Hmm. I'm not a fan of carrying a P229, but I do enjoy how they shoot. I rather like the P225A/A1 models, though they're mostly in the form of used guns by now. I prefer their grip shape over the similarly sized P239 with its squared front strap. YMMV of course. The A/A1 handle nicely and the double action portion of the trigger is rather well set up right from the factory. As much as I like my P6 and original P225, the much later reboot would get my vote.

However if I really had to choose what I see is the best carry SIG, from the striker world the 3.6" P320 X-Compact would be my choice. Shoots great with less weight and/or pudginess than the hammer SIGs. And it provides 15+1 rounds worth of bad guy(s) stopping power compared to a P365 (unless you like I live behind the Iron Curtain).

Or, find someone with a P224. Preferably with a Robert Burke carry job. Basically it’s just a P229 with a shortened grip.

There are so many choices. You could get a new grip mod and put weights in. That might be a viable and relatively cheap fix. I just got a 365 Micro and really like it. Because of the grip and the compensator there is little snap. That is a more expensive fix. I love my P series pistols, but if you wish to get hammer fired pistol, the Sig 2022 or SIGPro, is a less snappy, reasonably priced alternative than the various P series pistols.

Small plastic pistols are always going to have that excessive 'snap'. that is why traditionally quality pistols were metal and heavier...

but my first real suggestion is to not get rid of the 365. One of my main covenants with guns is to not get rid of what you have until all else fails.

carrying what I consider a decent sized pistol is really not there hard... P239... P229 is a good way to go... of course you are stepping away from the latest fad of striker fired... another choice I suppose is a P320 compact.

It's not the model. It's the caliber. .357 SIG. If you can find that in P229, you'll be ecstatic once you shoot it.

An option that might help with you're issue with recoil is to get a Wilson Combat X grip and add the tungsten weights. The grip being longer coupled with the weights will reduce recoil considerably. And as already suggested Sig 365 115 gr ammo which is tuned for short barrels is very tame.

As for going to an alternate Sig pistol, the P228 is hard to beat in the recoil department. If you want to go with a different brand, a G19 is very tame, but the G43 and G43x will kick just as much as the P365.

In the end, you don't get something for nothing. Want a capable round like a full power 9mm in a small carriable package you'll pay with recoil. Go with a larger gun, recoil is less but it's bulkier to carry. It's all trade offs.
