got2hav1Model 27 letter
Letter came back today. Nothing special. It was part of a group of 320

revolvers sent to Arthur Cook Supply in Maryland. One other revolver was configured exactly like this one with TH,TT,TS and 6-1/2" barrel. Shipped in July 1966. Cost was $84.77. The good old days, right?

sourdough44Just for reference I ran the $85 through a site to adjust for inflation. It comes up as $850 today, for reference.

I wonder if that was the wholesale/retailer's price. Regardless, lots of value for the money then. You can't get close to this quality of a revolver for $850 today.

I haven't pulled these but I have been told only the Magna grips got serials bucause they were fitted to the frame. Don't know if that is 100% true or not. I do know it left S&W with Target stocks, just not sure it was this pair.

Yes, that was the cost to the retailer. The letter states there was also a excise tax of 10% added to each price. So $94 dollars for the M27. Then what ever markup that the retailer added would be the selling price.
