I ran across a Gunbroker auction for a P220 and it had a serial number I didn't recognize it's sequence. Usually, they run in the G xxx xxx sequence. This one runs like 37A00xxxx.

Can someone tell me when this was made and if it is special in any way, like was it a LEO gun or a special run. Or, where I can find out, please. Thanks.

SIG Sauer changed its serial number scheme just a few years ago when they started producing the frames here. The one you reference is a very recent gun, likely nothing special but we can't tell without details. Following is a list that I composed, however, it may not be complete.

Gary, if you are updating your prefix list (?), here are two more:

54A - Sig 1911 (Nightmare carry) .45acp

GS57 - Sig 1911 (Ultra Carry Two Tone) .45acp

If you're goin' through hell, keep on going.
Don't slow down. If you're scared don't show it.
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

Gary, you can add this to your list, too.
46A = P225-A1

Also, for the P228, AHU, AJU, and AKU in 2012 - 2013, for the US made frame.

The P220's prefix should be "37B". I think Gary's list contains the error of "37A" for the P220's US frame.

Yes, I compiled the list from actual photos. These new serial number prefixes need to be in the Serial Number sticky.

I have a US made P220CO SAS 2B with a 37A prefix and a P226R MK-25 with a 47C prefix.

That reminds me... I need to look at that MK-25 to see if it has that new MIM trigger and MIM trigger bar.
