I will eventually tinker with an MRDS but not in the short term. With that said would you just put suppressor height sights on “out of the box” or wait until the point that you decide to go with a dot in the future? If the specifics matter it would be on a Glock 45. Are the various MRDS options radically different in window “height” to make purchasing irons something best done once a specific optic is chosen or will pretty much any suppressor height option work? While I have done a little MRDS shooting I am not up to speed on the specifics like my question above. As always I appreciate everybody’s input. Take care, shoot safe Chris "Guns are tools. I would wait to put taller sights in until I needed them. What height you need will depend on your chosen optic and mounting system (MOS, direct mill, etc). I prefer my iron sights to be as low as possible in the window of the optic. They are intended to be back up sights, and I like them as unobtrusive as possible. If your using an MOS Glock, take at look at the Holosun SCS. It mounts directly to the MOS cut without the need for adapter plates. It also allows standard height sights to be used-no need for suppressor height sights.

I came here to suggest exactly this. I'm not a Glock guy, so I haven't had a chance to try the SCS yet for myself, but I'm anxiously waiting for them to release them for other guns. Supressor height sights suck, and an optic that lets you leverage standard sights is an awesome innovation, IMO.

I swear I had something for this |
Other ideas would be the smaller sights like the Holosun 507K or EPS carry which with co witness without suppressor sights.

I used Ameriglo GL-429 on my Glock 19, with a Trijicon RMR. I had my slide milled by Jagerwerks, and the sights are useable but do not interfere with the dot. 10mm lays waste to entire cities, cuts through diamonds and will tear Superman a new asshole. - Parabellum Sex offenders can not be rehabilitated. Get the optic you want, then get Dawson Precision sights at your preferred height. The make a lot of different heights so you can find the ones that work best for your gun, mount, and optic. I prefer as low as possible in the optic window but still fully usable. Suppressor height might be too high.

Wait and get sights later. Something like the Holosun EPS may allow you to keep the factory height sights if you'd like to.

Perfect. This is the input I wanted. I wasn’t sure if there was a “normal” height of window or not for the “normal sized” dots (not the EPS and I was not aware the 507K was fairly low sitting. As always, thank you. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."
