It’s like owning a specific model of car. Once you own one, you suddenly see them everywhere. Part of knowing what handgun is being used by who is discussing loads, optics, holsters, mags & extensions, triggers and grip modules.

Me, I can ID handguns pretty easily, except for Glock models. Those I can’t tell apart.

Mostly it was all other instructors...all know their guns...plus the FDE M18 sticks out pretty well.

Sounds like a great way to clear the lanes out around you LOL

Odd way to react especially if it's other instructors, people who know firearms know that the P320 is a safe firearm.

If I thought that shooting a P320 at a public range would keep stupid, irrational people away from me, I believe I’d hang a sign around my neck announcing the fact.

Face it...it's partially in jest...so it's please take that into account. There are people in positions to make the decisions who do take all the reports seriously... (I will say the two largest agencies in my county that have banned the carry of the P320 on or off duty.). So it may just be a case of if you say something enough it makes it true (even when it's not...).

At my range, most people wouldn't know a P320 if you hit them in the head with it.

The only time anyone noticed me at the range was when I was firing canned heat .357 Sig from Georgia Arms. That stuff was loud.

I occasionally carry it with 0 problems.

I have just migrated to the P365 instead.

I've never had anybody physically back away or refuse to shoot with me because I'm shooting a P320, but I have received a lot of comments, mostly good-natured ribbing. At work it's usually from guys who's agencies issue Glocks, but I've also encountered it at the LGS and at my gun club. Typically it's stupid stuff like "Oh, he's shooting a Sig, I hope he doesn't drop it!".

One thing I haven't noticed, though, is any complaints from the guys who are actually issued them and shoot them. If you know anything about cops, if they're unhappy with a piece of gear the complaints will pour forth endlessly until either the gear gets changed or admin starts handing out reprimands. We've had nothing of the sort with the 320s...in fact we've had guys from other agencies pushing to switch TO them after seeing how ours have performed.

The comments at the range don't really bother me, either...willful ignorance is their own personal choice. The comments also usually stop after I outshoot their fancy competition rig with my $650 plastic duty pistol from a retention holster Big Grin.

Just because something is legal to do doesn't mean it is the smart thing to do.

The only 320 mishaps I have heard of have been on the internet but never any reports by people that I know personally. Either to that person or where they were present when a mishap occurred.
I have had my 320c for a couple of years and while I haven't shoot it a zillion rounds yet I have no reason to not trust it.

I tend to assume SOME of the reports of mishaps are flat out CYA lies

"Face it"? Excuse me??

First, there's nothing for me to "face" as I am not in denial about anything, not avoiding anything. Got it?

Secondly- sorry, no, your statement does not appear to have been made in jest. You said that "literally" people were stepping away when they saw your pistol. There is no indication at all that your statement was not made in earnest.

What

in the world

are you talking about

?

What does any of that (as best I can comprehend it) have to do with you saying that people are fleeing when they see a P320?

And this not-serious statement you made? You then said "I kind of considerate, funny" which is further indication that you were serious when you said it, because that statement indicates that you are telling us that what you've claimed, has actually happened.

Really, you need to strive for greater clarity in your comments and on top of that you'll want to avoid trying to bring me to Jesus when I am merely policing this forum.

Para,

Sorry I meant no disrespect by the “face it” comment - just trying to say a lot of the comments were in jest - it wasn’t meant to be done as an affront to you. I apparently didn’t make it clear enough that there is a mixture of humor with a lot of people who are taking it more seriously.

What I meant by the comment about people in authority, making decisions, is that they’re making it based upon the rumor and innuendo of these guns firing on their own. I have two agencies in my county, both of which are the two largest agencies in my county, that I forbid the curing on or off duty of those guns. What I’m trying to say, is that when people keep putting out these rumors, people start to believe them. Even if they’re not true.

I’m sorry if I didn’t make that more clear.

Short answer, no. Long answer, I do recognize that it is unforgiving of careless handling, which I believe in one form or another is the source of the NDs. I have had no issues of any kind with mine

The more I shoot mine and carry it while teaching I am getting more and more comfortable. Just tore mine down today to mount a Romeo X, very easy to clean and shoot.
