I just watched Chris Baker's review of the SIG 365-380, Micro Compact. One issue he stated with which I disagree was that the pistol could easily malfunction if not held properly. I have 1300 rounds through mine and I do not have a strong grip due to age and physical problems. After 200 to 250 rounds the firearm functioned almost flawlessly. Between 250 and 1300 rounds I had one light primer strike, and 1 failure to eject but I was using Winchester White Box.

In fact I usually do not use a very firm grip when shooting. I shot the pistol single handed with my strong and weak hand with no problems.

He did mention that maybe he needs to shoot the firearm more to fully break it in.

I am not sure of the usefulness of reviews, that are based on brand new firearms. I have six 9mm's and that all needed various break in periods.

Your thoughts.

I take online reviews with a grain of salt. For example if I listened to the Military Arms Channel, I would have never bought a P365. MAC had problems with several, and here I am a few years later with 8 different P365s in my inventory and only 1 (early 3 digit s/n) had a RTB issue that was quickly fixed by Sig. That pistol now has over 5K trouble free rounds through it.

We have around 300rds through my wife's P365 .380 and zero issues thus far.

After watching the review it seemed to me that Baker went to something of an extreme in order to invoke the gun to jam. I dunno; maybe there ARE people out there who would grip a gun in the manners that he was demonstrating, but I sort of doubt that regular viewers of Lucky Gunner's reviews would be among that group. The amount of muzzle flip that his hands were allowing was pretty severe, especially when throughout the video he kept commenting on just how soft-shooting the gun is.

To me this is only an issue for someone who is brand new to shooting and lacks the proper training to know how to correctly grip and hold onto a pistol.

However I wasn't that surprised when in his early mags (might even have been the very first mag to be run through the gun) he experienced a cycling failure with Blazer Brass. Supposed to be SAAMI spec, but if it is it's only just. I recall that some new G42s have run into similar problems early on with BB as well.

Thanks for the post SIGArms229. I like the MAC but I think that it is unrealistic to expect a gun to work out of the box. Many pistols need a break in period.

Videos are just like forums. You have to know and have a history with that person in order to determine the usefulness and validity of the information conveyed. Generally, I don't bother with the on-line video reviews.

Regarding break-in periods...total crap shoot. Some do some don't. In 2015 got my P320C 9mm, got a FS .40 X-Change kit later in the year. The 9mm had NO issues whatsoever. The .40 would have a failure to feed every 1-2 mags and was 100% by the third trip to the range.

About the only one I watch anymore is Honest Outlaw. His takes have been pretty darned accurate from what I know.

His wife will also shoot some of the guns too adding another perspective.
